Review of Australian Standards. To keep abreast of progress in industry, Australi an Standards are subject
to periodic review and are kept up to date by the issue of amendments or new editi ons as necessary. It is
important therefore that Standards users ensure that they are in possession of the latest editi on, and any
amendments thereto.
Full detail s of all Australian Standards and related publi cati ons wil l be found in the Standards Australi a
Catalogue of Publications; this information is supplemented each month by the magazine ‘The Australi an
Standard’, which subscribing members receive, and which gives details of new publications, new editi ons
and amendments, and of withdrawn Standards.
Suggesti ons for improvements to Australian Standards, addressed to the head off ice of Standards Australia,
are welcomed. Notif ication of any inaccuracy or ambiguit y found in an Australi an Standard should be made
without delay in order that the matter may be investigated and appropriate action taken.

PREFACE
This Standard was prepared by the Standards Australia Committee MN/5 on Copper, Lead, Zinc, Gold
and Silver Ores and Concentrates as part of a programme of standardizing methods for the
determination of elements of commercial interest in such materials. It supersedes AS 2917.1— 1986,
Methods for the analysis of copper sulphide concentrates , Part 1: Determination of copper (short iodide
titrimetric method).
The objective of this Standard is to provide those involved in the analysis of copper sulfide concentrates
with a standardized method of determining copper content supported by precision data obtained from
an inter-laboratory test programme.
It is identical with and has been reproduced from ISO 10258 which has been prepared by ISO/TC 183
Copper, Lead and Zinc Ores and Concentrates. Australia holds the Chairmanship and Secretariat of
ISO/TC 183 and has made a significant contribution to the preparation of ISO 10258.
