Discounts
Can be negotiated by buyers as Recognition of prompt payment Quantity discounts, although there is some risk in taking additional quantities if they are to be stored, and this has to be compared with the benefits of possible additional production at marginal costs. If a contract is extended beyond the typical twelve months (subject to acceptable termination or option clauses), it may be possible to secure an additional discount for the longevity of the contract. Discounts for technical breakthrough by the supplier. It would be expected that some of the benefits will be passed down the supply chain. Why manage inventory?
