Chapter 3

The document describes the research methodology used in a study of the impact of a Community Outreach Learning Center (COLC) program. The study uses a descriptive research method to analyze data from 50 preschool student beneficiaries of the COLC program from the 2012-2013 school year. Tables show the population was evenly split between male and female students, most were 3-4 years old, and the sample was evenly split between the first and second sessions. A questionnaire was used to collect data on the program's impact, which was then statistically analyzed.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

RESEARCH DESIGN The descriptive method of research is used in the study. Descriptive research is used in this study. Descriptive research describes the Impact of the Community Outreach Learning Center to its beneficiaries who are the less fortunate children simultaneously being benefitted from the program. In this study, it involves the description, recording, analysis and interpretation of the data. This study focuses on the present prevailing conditions of the program and its beneficiaries. This method is preferred because the primary intent of the research is to describe how high or low is the impact of the program to its beneficiaries, both the students of the first and second session school year 2012-2013. POPULATION AND SAMPLE SIZE

The population of the study are beneficiaries of the COLC who are preschool students ages from 3-5 years old. There are 50 students involved in this research study, 25 from the first session and 25 from the second session. These students are enrolled in this program for the year 2012-2013. In random Sampling Technique, everyone in the population of the inquiry has an equal chance of being included on the study. The Slovens formula was used in the computation of the sample of the study to determine the sample size.
