Suggested specification for meter box components.
CAST IROn METER RIng And LId SPECIFICATIOnS All meter box rings and lids shall be produced in accordance with AASHTO M306 latest version. Meter box rings and lids rated as non-traffic are exempt from proof load testing as defined in Section 6 of AASHTO M306. Castings shall be furnished unpainted or as specified by the purchaser Castings shall contain a minimum of 85% post consumer (recycled) content. Castings shall be of uniform quality, free from sand holes, shrinkage, cracks and other surface defects. Castings shall be ground smooth and well cleaned by shot blasting. Casting dimensions may vary within accepted foundry tolerances as outlined in the Iron Castings Handbook published by the American Foundry Society. Nominally, casting dimensional tolerances shall be +/- 1/16 per foot. All published casting weights are average and approximate values and shall vary +/- 5%. Certifications for material quality and recycled content shall be made available upon request. Castings shall be clearly marked with manufacturer name or logo, cast or heat date and country of origin. Manufactured by EJ USA, Inc.
