Teaching the Skill
Say to student: Bend your leg to push off Land on the ball off your foot. Find your rhythm. Look ahead, with head and eyes level. Use your arms for balance.

Say to student: Use light springing steps. Take off and land on your foot. Make your body face to the front. Keep eyes straight ahead ( or look over your shoulder) Step, close, step, close, or step, together, step, together.

Partner side gallop orange races - 6 rows of 5 bean bags. Students join hands with a partner
and side gallop and race the other teams to collect their row of bean bags first. Sharks and Islands Students to side gallop instead of running. 3 students are sharks and 8 hoops on the ground are islands. Sharks inhabit the space around the hoops and attempt to tag any students that are not on an island. Only one player per island is allowed. A player without an island may jump on an inhabited island the previous occupier must find another island. If tagged the player becomes a shark.

Teaching the Skill
Say to student: Use light springing steps. Keep eyes straight ahead Step, hop, step, hop Take off and land on the front of your foot. Make sure your body faces to the front.

Games Wednesday and Thursday
When a player is tagged they join the pair and they become a chain of three. When a fourth person is tagged they break into two chains of two and continue to chase and tag. Frost and Thaw 2 students are Frost players and 2 are Thaw players (use bands to identify them). Frost skips to tag the other players who are also skipping and the tagged students must freeze on the spot. Thaw skips to tag the frozen players so they can rejoin the game.
Chain Tag - a pair of taggers join arms and skip to tag the other students with their free hands.

Overarm Throw
Term 2 Week 10 and 11
Teaching the Skill
Say to student: Look at your target. Point to the target (with your non-throwing arm). Stand side-on. Step forward and throw. Follow through, down and across your body with your throwing arm. Swing your arm down and back as you prepare to throw Step throw and follow- through down and across your body.

Games Wednesday and Thursday
Retrieval - 2 teams Runners and Throwers. Runners stand behind basket at one end of the
court and the Throwers stand on the along two sides of the court. Runners collect a bean bag from the basket and need to put it in the basket at the other end of the court and come back and join the line with out being hit by a ball from the throwers. If a runner gets hit by a ball they need to come back and join the line again and their bean bag doesnt count. Swap after a few minutes and the winner is the team with the most bean bags.

Week 2 Preparation for Cross Country Jogging Pace Tag games
