PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE CARDINAL HILL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, Lexington, KY 1993 - 2011 President / Chief Executive Officer This healthcare system includes Kentuckys largest and most comprehensive post-acute care network. The flagship freestanding teaching acute physical rehabilitation hospital, (named by U.S. News and World Report as a top 50 hospital in America), is joined by a LTACH, and another sub acute operation, both located in other hospitals. There are three multidisciplinary outpatient centers, in Louisville, Lexington, and Florence, and a home healthcare service in Central Kentucky. Total employees, 971, total revenue, 66.3 million. The healthcare system was grown and assimilated from an 88 bed hospital and loosely affiliated multiple locations. The system currently operates 265 inpatient beds in three locations. Restructured management process in to a program management model, downsized saving 2 million dollars first year. Extensively renovated spinal cord unit and reclaimed patient care areas increasing bed capacity from 88 to 108, expanded revenue 2.9 million. Built a 24,000 square foot pediatric center, and expanded pediatric services. Developed an off campus urgent treatment center and occupational medicine clinic, increased market referrals by 21%. Consolidated decentralized outpatient operations into a unified corporate structure, and implemented system wide financial accounting and reporting. Provided statewide regional leadership to 5 executive directors that reported directly to me. Constructed a 67,000 square foot clinical/administrative/support services addition and expanded radiology department. Developed a full service clinical laboratory saving $770,000.00 in the first year. Pledged 2 million dollars as matching funds to the University of Kentucky to form the Cardinal Hill/University of Kentucky Neurorehabilitation Research Center. Moved the University of Kentucky Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to the Cardinal Hill campus. Expanded outpatient services to Louisville with new facilities increasing visits by 30%. Expanded outpatient services in Northern Kentucky with new facilities increasing visits by 18%. Developed a 33 bed hospital within a hospital, (Long Term acute Hospital, LTACH), in St. Elizabeths Hospital, Florence Kentucky. Exceeded occupancy and financial projections in year two.

Acquired 73 skilled nursing beds, utilized 34 to open a subacute rehabilitation unit in UK/Samaritan Hospital Lexington. This was a referral feeder system to the main campus increasing referrals by 12% Acquired 50 more acute rehabilitation beds via the Kentucky CON process. Coordinated 43 million dollar financing to build a 100 bed inpatient addition, opened in September 2011. Obtained Board approval to replace the information technology, (IT), and patient records system, and began implantation in March 2011. MARY BRECKINRIDGE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, INC., Hyden, KY 1992 - 1993 President / Chief Executive Officer This was an interim turn around role for the 40 bed hospital and five free standing outpatient clinics. This is the healthcare division of the famous Frontier Nursing Service, Inc. Those efforts brought the healthcare division into profitability for the first time in many years. Recruited 2 new emergency department physicians. Upgraded radiology department with new technology, improved patient safety increased revenue. Created ultrasound diagnostic department, and expanded revenue. Developed a biomedical engineering service. Streamlined home care operations and brought it into profitability. BAPTIST HEALTHCARE SYSTEM 1979 1992 Held corporate vice president positions with this 4 hospital statewide healthcare system. Assumed three CEO roles in different geographic areas within this 1.8 billion dollar system. Chronology of those roles is as follows: Western Baptist Hospital, Paducah KY (19901992) President Responsible for total operation of this 349 bed general acute care hospital. WBH had 1992 annual revenues of 132 million dollars and approximately 1400 employees. Achieved a record fiscal year at 7.6 M net bottom line. Implemented the long-range strategic planning process. Expanded and remodeled the outpatient surgery departments. Built a second Cardiac Catheterization Lab with the latest technology. Expanded the cafeteria and serving area. Completed a total facility study and HVAC analysis. Renovated and relocated the medical records department and physician dictation area. Purchased 35 acres of prime property in the suburbs for future hospital expansion. Created a Radiographic-Fluorography room in the ER. Developed a reference laboratory service in a large new physicians office building. Baptist Regional Medical Center and Western Baptist Hospital, Corbin and Paducah (19891990, seven months) President/CEO

Provided leadership, responsibility, and oversight of these two hospitals for a 7 month period until replacement of my role at Baptist Regional Medical Center in July of 1990. Scope of authority; 2000 employees, 622 beds, and 200+ million in revenue.

Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin KY (1986-1990) Administrator/CEO Responsible for the start-up operation of this totally new hospital campus. Three year projected growth in services occupancy and revenues were surpassed in the first year of operation. It was a highly successful operation from the outset. Coordinated the design, building, and relocation of a new 273 bed Regional Medical Center. Coordinated design and construction of a medical office building consisting of 30,000 square feet. Expanded assets from $3.5M to $61M. Responsible for 610 employees and an annual budget of $45M. Recruited or assisted in the recruitment of additional physicians, expanding the medical staff from 32 active and 12 courtesy in 1982 to 56 active and 40 courtesy by 1990. Increased patient service revenue from $22M to $39M since the operation of the new Regional Hospital, all fiscal years were profitable. Established linkage with the University Of Kentucky School Of Medicine for Medical student and Allied Health professional training at BRMC. Obtained approval for an Associate Degree R.N. Program and facilitated training on Baptist Regional Medical Centers campus. Coordinated the approval and design of a 73 bed Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency Hospital connected to Baptist Regional Medical Center which became operational on 10/90. Obtained approval for a 20 bed rehabilitation center, now operational. Developed the hospitals first cardiac catheterization laboratory. Southeastern Kentucky Baptist Hospital, Corbin KY (1982 1986) Administrator/CEO Assumed responsibility for this Appalachian hospital under management contract for the Baptist Management Corporation (an affiliate corporation of the BHS). After operational stabilization and growth, ownership of this facility was conveyed to the Baptist Healthcare System. Turned around this 117 bed hospital from financial default to profitability in eight months of operation under restructuring. Expanded beds from 117 to 154, renovated extensively. Implemented the hospitals first outpatient surgery program. Developed extensive affiliations with various schools of nursing and technology programs. Also expanded clinical affiliation with specialty physicians from the University of Kentucky and private hospitals in Lexington. Built a strong alliance with the Medical Staff and the community.
