What Is DTS-i
What Is DTS-i
DTS-i was first introduced in the Pulsar 150/180 models in 2003. The DTS-Si technology came in the XCD 125 in 2007 and currently also available on Platina 125 and XCD 135. What is DTS-i Technology?
To understand it one first needs to be familiar with the functioning of a Conventional 4 Stroke Engine (with single Spark Plug). DTS-i stands for Digital Twin Spark Plug Ignition. In simple words it means that there are 2 spark plugs in the single cylinder engine and the timing of sparkplugs are controlled by a digital microprocessor. The big difference between a conventional 4 stroke engines and the DTS-i engine is the incorporation of 2 Spark Plugs. The 2 spark plug set up leads to better burning of the air fuel mixture, which results in delivering better fuel efficiency without any compromise in power. Benefits of DTS-i Technology With a DTS-i engine, one gets the dual benefit of good fuel coupled with good power as well. The evidence of the effectiveness of this technology is clearly demonstrated by the eagerness of other manufacturers like Royal Enfield, which have launched a model, the Thunderbird Twin Spark.
Like the DTS-i engine, the DTS-Si engine also has 2 Spark Plugs, the timing of which is controlled by a Digital Microprocessor. The difference between these two engines is the offset position of the inlet and outlet ports of the DTS-Si engine. This offset position creates turbulence of the air-fuel mixture inside the engine.
Benefits of DTS-Si Technology: This enhances the fuel efficiency of the engine even further.

i-VTEC: high power + low fuel consumption i-VTEC regulates the opening of air-fuel intake valves and exhaust valves in accordance with engine speeds By regulating valve opening to match engine speed, the agile i-VTEC engine adjusts its characteristics to realize both superior power and low fuel consumption.
The new 1.3L i-VTEC engine is agile and intelligent: at low engine speeds one of the two intake valves is idled. The engine sips gasoline, using a lean fuel mix at low engine speeds for further improved combustion efficiency. Valve idling mechanism
The two intake valves of the new 1.5L i-VTEC engine switch modes in accordance with engine speed, opening a small amount at low engine speeds and fully opening at high engines speeds, achieving both high power and low fuel consumption.
can be considered as motto, youth empowerment or whatever you like to called because in my day to day life, Ill seen the same on both the side of the road that convince youth to spend their life by doing global green activities. Education, technology and innovation have its own performance towards the improvement in above tag.
Automotive field contributes all his best efforts toward this, with the help of new development and technologies that is invented by considering the current status of environment. Automotive is the only field that completely gets into the eco friendly technologies.
In the direction of same, another hilarious effort of the autocrats came alive when ATFT tech was introduced by one of the auto legend Hero Honda. They make this adventure alive in its upcoming bike Hunk. Advance Tumble Flow Induction Technology is the process by virtue of which fuel air mixture can be burnt completely inside the combustion chamber.
There is obvious question in mind arise that if this tech doing their job up to the satisfactory level, then why there is a need of ATFT.
ATFT plays an important role at the time of low speed of the automobile. Automobile will never achieve the speed of what mention in its dashboard due to the traffic in the city area and other engine limitations but most of its life spends with the speed of 50-60 kmph. It obviously means that most of the time, vehicles run at the speed of about 20-30. Low engine rpm makes the combustion process incomplete and thereby increasing the pollution from the engine. At low speed, induction process becomes very slow so fuel does not get enough air to burn the fuel completely. This drawback raises the need of the improvement in induction. At the same time, automotive enthusiast developed ATFT technology.
Tumble flow means; an air flow circulating in the direction of the cylinder axis. It is known that the swirl flow has a large effect on homogenizing the air and fuel mixture, but it has the little effect on accelerating combustion by the generation of the turbulence. On the other hand, it is known that the tumble flow is effective to improve the combustion at the light loading of an engine by the strong turbulence effect which is caused when the tumble flow is broken near the end of the compression stroke.
