TIBCO Runtime Agent (TRA) and TIBCO Business Works (BW) installation steps
This document provides a brief overview of TRA and TIBCO BW, and outlines the steps that need to be followed to install TIBCO TRA and BW on your work/personal machine.

After installing these products on your work/personal machine you will be able to do primary coding/debugging/testing on your work/personal machine. This document is divided into two (2) sections 1. Brief overview of TRA and installation steps 2. Brief overview of TIBCO BW and installation steps

Section 1 Brief overview of TRA and installation steps


TRA Overview TRA is available in two (2) different installation packages 62-bit and 32-bit. If you are using a 64-bit operation system use the former one else use the latter TRA installation package TRA package provides the following TIBCO products and product components: 1. TIBCO Designer This is the GUI component used at design-time to configure TIBCO BW processes and other TIBCO applications for creating integration projects. 2. TIBCO Runtime Agent TRA includes TIBCO Domain Utility and other TIBCO libraries, tools, TIBCO Wrapper utility, a number of repository management utilities, and more. 3. Third-Party Libraries (tpcl) This provides third-party libraries used by TIBCO applications. 4. Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 64-bit installation package of TRA will leverage the advantages of the 64-bit JRE over the 32-bit JRE.

5. TIBCO Rendezvous (RV) TIBCO RV installer is embedded in the TRA suite installer. 6. TIBCO Hawk Agent TRA leverages TIBCO Hawk to deploy, manage, and monitor applications.

TRA installation steps


TIBCO Installer can run in GUI, console, or silent modes. Each mode is supported on all platforms. 1. GUI mode This mode gives panels that allow you to make choices about product selection, product location, and so on. 2. Console mode This mode allows you to run the installer from the command line. This is useful if your machine does not have a window environment or if you wish to install in silent mode. Silent mode installs without prompting you for information. 3. Silent mode This mode installs using values in .silent file. Silent mode installs in console mode without prompting you for input. This document would go through the detailed steps required to install TRA using the GUI mode. Steps 1. Download the TRA 64-bit or 32-bit installation package and save it on your work/personal machine. 2. Extract the TRA archive file to a temporary directory (if it is compressed). 3. Navigate to the directory where you have save the TRA installation package. 4. Run the TIBCO Universal Installer (Application file). The Welcome screen displays. 5. On clicking Next, the License Agreement screen appears. After reading through the license text, click I accept the terms of the license agreement and then click Next. 6. Now the Installation Profile Selection screen will be displays. 7. Click a profile on the left or check the Customize Installation checkbox (to select the required features). 8. On clicking Next, the TIBCO Installation Home screen will appear displayed.

9. You can use the existing TIBCO_HOME (if you have TIBCO already installed) or create a new TIBCO_HOME. To install the product into a new installation environment, specify the following properties: Name This will identify the installation environment. The name cannot contain special characters such as ("*", "?", ">", "<", ":", "|", "/", "\", or quotes (")). Path This will specify the directory into which the product will be installed. You can either type or browse the directory path. 10. Now click Next. 11. A Pre-Install summary screen will be displayed. Do verify the list of products selected for install and then click Install. 12. The Post-Install Summary screen will appear and will summarize the installation process. 13. Click Finish to complete the installation process and close the installer window.

Section 2 Brief overview of TIBCO BW and installation steps


TIBCO BW overview

TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks is a scalable, extensible, and easy to use integration platform that allows you to develop integration projects. TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks uses the TIBCO Designer (installed with TRA) graphical user interface (GUI) for defining business processes. TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks process engine executes the business process. This can be done in both design time (test mode) and run time.

TIBCO BW Installation Steps


This document would go through the detailed steps required to install TRA using the GUI mode. Steps 1. Download the TIBCO BW 64-bit or 32-bit installation package and save it on your work/personal machine. 2. Extract the TIBCO BW archive file to a temporary directory (if it is compressed). 3. Navigate to the directory where you have saved the TIBCO BW installation package. 4. Run the TIBCO Universal Installer (Application file). The Welcome screen displays. 5. On clicking Next, the License Agreement screen appears. After reading through the license text, click I accept the terms of the license agreement and then click Next. 6. Now the Installation Profile Selection screen will be displays. 7. Click a profile on the left or check the Customize Installation checkbox (to select the required features). 8. On clicking Next, the TIBCO Installation Home screen will appear displayed. 9. Select the existing TIBCO_HOME that was created during installation of TRA to install TIBCO BW. 10. Now click Next. 11. A Pre-Install summary screen will be displayed. Do verify the list of products selected for install and then click Install. 12. The Post-Install Summary screen will appear and will summarize the installation process. 13. Click Finish to complete the installation process and close the installer window.
