QC Tools

The document discusses seven quality tools used for analyzing processes and data: cause-and-effect diagrams identify possible causes for problems and sort them into categories; control charts graph processes over time; histograms show frequency distributions of data values; Pareto charts are ordered histograms that identify the most important factors; scatter diagrams look for relationships between pairs of numerical variables; flowcharts depict the steps and flow of processes using symbols; and run charts display observed data sequences over time without limits.

SEVEN QUALITY TOOLS

1. Cause-and-effect diagram (also called Ishikawa or fishbone chart): Identifies many possible causes for an effect or problem and sorts ideas into useful categories. 2. Control charts: Graphs used to study how a process changes over time

3. Histogram: The most commonly used graph for showing frequency distributions, or how often each different value in a set of data occurs 4. Pareto chart: is a specific type of histogram, ordered by frequency of occurrence. 5. Scatter diagram: Graphs pairs of numerical data, one variable on each axis, to look for a relationship 6. Flowchart: A diagram that uses graphic symbols to depict the nature and flow of the steps in a process. 7. Run Chart: It is a graph that displays observed data in a sequence. It is similar to control chart without displayed limits.
