Christmas Mouse

Harry the mouse is cold and hungry living under a wood pile on a farm in England. On Christmas Eve, he ventures into the farmer's house seeking food and shelter. Inside he finds warmth and hides in a boot. The next morning the family's ginger cat discovers Harry and chases him to the Christmas tree. Harry hides inside an unopened present and falls asleep eating nuts. On Christmas Day the presents are opened and a little girl receives Harry as a gift, giving him a safe home.

ts Christmas Eve. Its snowy. Harry the mouse lives on a farm in England. He lives at the bottom of a wood pile. The farmer has a big ginger cat. The cats very clever. It eats mice. Harry doesnt like the cat.

Can you help Harry escape from the wood pile?

The farm is all white. Harry runs to the farmers house and looks at the lights in the windows. He can see a beautiful Christmas tree inside the big living room and lots of decorations.

Its lovely and warm in the farmers house. There are lots of places to hide.Theres lots of food to eat. Harry jumps into a big boot.Theres a woolly sock inside. Harry makes a nest and goes to sleep.

Harry wakes up early the next morning. He hears loud noises. He waits quietly inside the boot. Hes very scared. Suddenly, he sees a big ginger face and two big green eyes looking at him. Eeek! says Harry the mouse. Its the ginger cat. Miaow! says the cat.

The cat kicks the boot and Harry falls out. He runs across the room to the Christmas tree. There are lots of Christmas presents under the tree. Theyre covered with pretty paper and ribbon.

Harry thinks, This is a very good place to make a home. Its warm and quiet.

Whats inside the presents?

Harry makes a big hole in a present and climbs inside. This is a good place for a nest, he says. Its full of nuts, I can eat nuts every day! Harry hears voices. He looks through the hole. All the presents are moving. He can see lots of hands.The farmers family are opening their presents.

Its Christmas Day! shouts a little boy. Suddenly

a little girl picks up Harrys box. Look! This present is for me! she shouts. She doesnt see the hole in the box. She opens the box. Look! Its a mouse! Look, Mummy! Its got two small eyes and a long tail. Its lovely. Thank you, Father Christmas!

The little girl is surprised but also very happy. She gives Harry a cage. Harry the mouse has a very happy Christmas. He sees the big ginger cat but he isnt scared. The cat cant eat me now, he says. Harry eats the nuts for his Christmas dinner.
