Tonight - Patrick Hinson will preach and we will enjoy some ice cream together in the fellowship hall afterwards.

Brad Seevers Senior Minister (740-550-9882) David Tingler Associate Minister Hannah Martin Director of Childrens Ministries Sunday Services 1st Worship 8:00 a.m. 2nd Worship 10:30 a.m. Bible School 9:15 a.m. Evening Worship 6:00 p.m.

Fifth Quarter will begin Friday, September 6th and will meet each Friday through November 1st. We would like to provide snacks and beverages for these events. Please, see Wess Camp, Nick Hinson or Jean Azbell for details.

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

Tonight Patrick Hinson will share with us during our 6 p.m. service. We hope you come out and support this young man who continues to train at CCU for full-time ministry. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall and ice cream will be served immediately following his sermon. You do not have to bring anything but yourself. Thanks to all who have helped with snacks the past few Sundays. This Fall, I will lead a small group entitled: Radical. It is based on a book by David Platt which dives into the question: What is Jesus worth to you? Thats a good question. But, maybe equally as good is the question, Is He someone for whom you are willing to lose everything? I hope so! Join me each Sunday night beginning September 22nd. The book, Radical, is required reading for participation so pick up a copy as soon as you can. More details to come! This Fall, the last Wednesday night of each month, there will be a dinner in our fellowship hall for the entire church. On the Sunday before, you will be asked to indicate on your silent roll call card if you plan to attend. It will also be advertised what we will eat so you can better decide if you plan to come. Immediately following the meal, we will offer a small group for parents entitled, Have a New Kid by Friday, by doctor Kevin Leman. You will love his wit and humor so whether you are a single parent or a married couple, this small group is for you. Hannah will have a fun time planned for the kids on the third floor. All others are welcome to join Dave in his study in Room 208. We hope you plan to join us. More details to come! One final thought: Human plans, no matter how wise or well advised, cannot stand against the Lord (Proverbs 21:30). In His Service, Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

NEW HORIZONS RETREAT: Dont forget, this even takes place on Tuesday, September 10. You may still register, but the registration fee is now $25 per person ($10 for first timers). This years program features Jim Book, Jeff Bullock, Tom Shelton and the musical group, 64 to Grayson. A sign-up sheet is posted and there is still time to register. You will find registration forms and mailing envelopes on the bulletin board. You will need to mail your registrations directly to North Terrace. (Please make checks payable to North Terrace Church of Christ.) Our departure time will be 7:30 am and we will have a continental breakfast on arrival. LaCOMEDIA DINNER THEATRE: The standby list remains available on our bulletin board. There is always the possibility that someone may need to cancel their reservation and we will have an opening. Remember, the date is Thursday, October 17. We will be departing the church parking lot at 8:15am for the trip to Dayton. We will be enjoying an excellent buffet dinner and a matinee presentation of The Church Basement Ladies: A Mighty Fortress Is Our Basement. This trip is KeenAger sponsored but is open to anyone who would like to go. The cost for the show, dinner and transportation is just $44 per person. SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: I encourage your participation in the special Sunday evening events, in August. I will be returning, on September 1, with a new series of lessons centered on well-known Biblical characters. The message on September 1 is, Andrew, The Witness (John 1:3542). Other characters include Zaccheus, Lydia, Nicodemus, and many more. WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDIES: We are in the midst of our summer break but we will return to these meetings on September 11. On that date we will launch a brief series of lessons titled Meet The Millennials. In these lessons we will examine the attitudes, lifestyles, etc. of those born between 1980 and 2000 and explore how the Church may reach out to them. FINAL THOUGHT: Wisdom consists of knowing what to do with what you know.

Last week in childrens church, we learned about cheating. When you cheat, no one wins! The best feeling comes from winning a game fair and square. Cheating is like stealing, which is one of the Ten Commandments. We learned that even though we may fool someone else when we cheat, we can never fool God. Cheating is also like lying, another commandment! Even though it may seem like a small thing, cheating is still a sin that disappoints God. Today in Childrens Church we are doing some fun experiments! Ask your kids about what they learned today, keep the conversation rolling even after church! *** We are having a meeting today in the fellowship hall at 2:00 for all current childrens ministry Team Members and for anyone who would like to get involved! If you have ever wondered if childrens ministry is for you, come to this meeting today! If you are just curious about what we do, you are more than welcome to sit in as well! Hannah

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are: Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through gracebased preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and SoonComing King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
