Jetslinger
Overview
Features
FLSmidth Ludowici designs and manufactures Jetslingers to suit almost every bulk storage and loading requirement. Jetslingers provide an economical means of forming storage piles by distributing free flowing bulk materials into areas that may otherwise be inaccessible. Jetslingers consist of a very short centre high-speed (to 20m/sec) belt conveyor. The carrying surface of the belt is held in a concave curve by hold down rollers at each side of the belt. A specially designed vertical chute directs the material onto the optimum area of the curved belt between the rollers before being forced against the belt by centrifugal force as it travels the concave path. It rapidly reaches the same speed as the belt and is thrown from the Jetslinger as the belt passes over the front pulley. The trajectory of the material is controlled by raising or lowering the front pulley, while the direction of material is controlled by slewing the complete Jetslinger body. Features: Rotating components of the belt conveyor are dynamically balanced for smooth, trouble free operation Removable lower belt cartridge incorporating the drive and non-drive belt pulleys, and the Jetslinger belt
Applications
Stockpiling The Jetslinger can be ground based (fixed or mobile on a trolley), mounted on a travelling tripper, or at the discharge end of a stacking boom. The maximum throw and therefore stockpile height is usually the key criterion for maximum pile capacity. Trolley mounted Jetslingers can retract away from the end of the stacker boom thus allowing free-fall stacking. As stockpiling Jetslingers rarely require trajectory adjustment, they can include manually adjusted trajectory control
Shiploading The Jetslinger is particularly suited to loading bulk carrier ships with small hatch access and below deck obstructions that require trimming under bulkheads. Suspended from the shorebased shiploading boom by a telescopic chute, the Jetslinger enables the unit to be lowered into the ships hold. Normal gravity loading via a motorised remote controlled by-pass gate
above the belt is used wherever possible. The Jetslinger belt is then reserved for loading difficult to reach parts from the hold and for trimming. Latest designs for Jetslingers loading woodchips into ship holds include electro-mechanically operated deflector plate (by others) to increase compaction and therefore cargo mass.
Customer Benefits
The main customer benefits are:
Quick-release belt cartridge design providing a much easier and quicker belt changeover compared with conventional Jetslingers approximately 30 minutes compared to four hours
