General Adaptation Syndrome This describes as the bodys response to stressors.
There are physical stressors such as starvation, being hit by a car, or suffering through severe weather. There are also emotional/ mental stressors such as loss of a loved one, inability to solve problem or having a difficulty at work. The three stages basically describe the adaptation of bodys response to such stressors. This adaptation includes endocrine system Causes and effects
One of the causes of general adaptation syndrome is stress. It can manifest fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating and difficulty sleeping. There were also unusual manifestation such as hair loss and the one without medical explanation is considered stress as the cause. Stress can come in two forms first is physical stress are injuries, trauma, fall, allergic reactions, infections and other disease conditions. Next is psychological stress are work, studying, depression, traumatic incidences such as witnessing accidents, employment and life events such as divorce, graduation, retirement, etc. Endocrine glands secrete hormones in response to stress. But when too much hormones were secreted it will result to a disease or disorder. Like for example the Adrenaline, if it is too much it will result in a surge of blood pressure that can damage blood vessels of the heart and brain and this would lead to Heart Attack or Stroke. If there are errors in adaptive response to stress it will lead to cardiovascular disorders to inflammatory diseases and mental disorders. Stress also can damage the nerve cells in tissues and organs, thus it will lead to impairment of thinking and memory and with tendency toward anxiety and depression. There can also be adverse function of the autonomic nervous system that contributes to high blood pressure, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and other stress related illness. Excess production of cortisol or other stress related hormones will result to damage to cells and muscle tissues that could lead to disorder or disease. Prevention and Recommendation To prevent stress, one should have a goal to adapt a healthy coping mechanism in order to deal with stress. Incorporating a healthy lifestyle

In handling stress, you should have to figure out where your stress is coming from, what makes you stress. With this it will help you to get organized and take some actions. Do whatever you love, something that is your hobby or activities that is meaningful and fulfilling to you. Manage your time very well, take enough time to sleep. Accept failures or mistakes; dont at least drown yourself to perfectionism.
