Cut out the pictures on the next page and have your child sort them into the appropriate box below.

Christmas Addition Game
Materials: Addend number cards (on next page), sum number cards (on next pages), and up to 20 Christmas-themed objects for
counting (e.g., Christmas tree erasers, candy canes, red and green glass gems).
Directions: Print the addend and sum number cards on the next pages and cut them out. Print the Christmas addition board. You may wish to
laminate both the number cards and the Christmas addition board for greater durability.
Have your child select an addend number card and place it in the left addend box on the Christmas addition board. Have your child count out
that number of Christmas-themed objects and place them on the Christmas addition board.
Have your child select a second addend number card and place it in the right addend box on the Christmas addition board. Have your child
count out that number of Christmas-themed objects and place them on the Christmas addition board.
Have your child calculate the total number of Christmas-themed objects. Then have your child nd that number among the sum number cards
and place that card in the yellow sum box on the Christmas addition board.
Christmas Subtraction Game
Materials: White minuend and subtrahend cards, yellow dierence cards, and 20 small objects for counting (e.g., Christmas tree erasers, candy
canes, red and green glass gems).
Directions: Print and cut the white and yellow number cards on the next pages. Print the Christmas subtraction game playing board. You may
wish to laminate both the number cards and the Christmas subtraction game play board for greater durability. Have your child select two of the
white number cards. Your child should put the bigger number in the left minuend box and the smaller number in the right subtrahend box.
Then, have your child count out objects equal to the number in the left minuend box and place them on the game board.
Next, have your child take away objects equal to the number in the right subtrahend box.
Finally, have your child should nd the yellow dierence card that represents the number of objects remaining. Your should should place the
yellow dierence card in the box after the equals sign.
Note: Depending on your childs skill level, you may want to start with just white numbers 1 to 5 or 1 to 10 rather than numbers up to 20.
