1. Getting Started
To install the theme you must have WordPress already installed. Please see the WordPress Codex for more information on installing WordPress: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

1.1

Installation

You can install the theme in two ways: WordPress Upload: In the WordPress admin panel navigate to Appearance > Add New Themes > Upload. Go to browse and select the zipped theme folder. Press install now and the theme will be uploaded and installed. FTP Upload: Using your FTP program upload the on-zipped theme folder into the /wp-content/themes/ folder of your WordPress installation.

Once the theme is uploaded, you need to activate it. Go to Appearance > Themes and activate your theme.

1.2 Setup Customization Options

You can customize various visual aspects of the theme using the WordPress Live Customizer. Go to Appearance > Customiz. Take some time to take a look through the options and customize them for your site.

Theme Features

2.1 Post Formats

When creating a post you will be able to choose from 10 post formats: 2.1.1 Standard

The standard post format. There are no special options for this post format.

2.1.2 Aside Asides are generally short posts or notes. The post title isnt shown.

2.1.3 Audio The audio format displays a custom audio player or an embedded audio player depending on the options you have selected. To add self-hosted audio you can upload it into the Video Post Format meta box that appears below the editor. If you are embedding a SoundCloud track you simply have to paste the URL of the track page.

2.1.4 Chat Chat post formats are for sharing transcripts such as Skype, Conversations, or small excerpts. Simply paste your transcript into the chat transcript box in this format and the theme will take care of the rest: Page 6

2.1.5 Gallery The gallery post format is to display/attach multiple images to a post. Simply drag and drop your images onto the dashed box to upload your images, You can drag and drop the images to re-order the image display order.

2.1.6 Image The image post format is for displaying/attaching images to a post. It differs from a standard post format as you can embed images from external services such as Instagram and Flickr. Simply paste the URL of the images page to embed.

2.1.7 Link The link post format is to share a URL. Simply enter the link title and link URL into the Link Post Format box that appears below the editor when you can selected the Link post format.

2.1.8 Quote The quote post format is to share a Quote. Simply your quote into the Quote Post Format box that appears below the editor when you can selected the Quote post format.

2.1.9 Status The status post format allows you to share a Twitter or custom status update. Either enter the URL of the Tweet youd like to share or enter a custom on in the Custom Status box.

2.1.10 Video The video format displays a custom video or an embedded video depending on the options you have selected. To add a self-hosted video you can upload it into the Video Post Format meta box that appears below the editor. You can also provide an optional "Poster Image" which is the video preview image. If you are embedding a YouTube or Vimeo video you simply have to paste the URL of the video page.

2.2 Custom Menus

To setup your custom menus, navigate to Appearance > Menus. Give your menu a name and build it up using the available widgets. You can add a variety of items including pages, categories, custom links. To extend the available widgets, click the screen options tab at the very top of the screen and configure your options. Once you have built and saved your menu, simply select the theme location using the widget on the left.

2.3 Custom Widgets

This theme comes with various custom widgets that can be found under Appearance > Widgets. 2.4.1 Latest Posts Widget This widget allows you to show your latest articles in widgetised areas. You can configure the title and number of posts to display. Title: Title of the widget Number of posts: Choose the number of posts to display Sort by: Select which order to show posts Reverse sort order (ascending): Check to reverse the order of posts Show number of comments: Check to show comment numbers Show post date: Check to show post dates Show post thumbnail: Check to show post thumbnails

2.4.2 Flickr Widget This widget allows you to show your most popular articles in widgetised areas. You can configure the title and number of posts to display. Title: Title of the widget Number of posts: Choose the number of posts to display

2.4 Featured Images

The theme supports the use of featured images. The theme supports auto-resizing of the featured images. Auto-resizing will only occur however when the image is uploaded for the first time, images that have previously been uploaded will not be resized. You can however use the following plugin to regenerate the thumbnails: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ To upload a post thumbnail, go to Posts > Add New or open an existing post in editing mode. Locate the Featured Image module and click the Set featured image link. Clicking the link will open up the usual WordPress image uploader where you will upload your image. Simply make sure that it is either the same size or larger than what the final thumbnail will be. Once youre done uploading the image, simply click the link that says Set Featured Image, which is next to the button to insert it into the post.
