DCN Lab Description

This document provides information about a data communication networks lab for the spring 2010 semester. The lab will teach students how to model and simulate networks using OPNET/Packet Tracer software. Students will perform experiments involving switches and routers to build LANs/WANs. The lab topics covered include Ethernet cabling, IP networking, wireless networking, basics of OPNET, switched networks, routing, and more. By the end of the lab, students are expected to have skills in networking components, identifying functions, transmission processes, layered network models, Ethernet technologies, subnetting, and routing protocols. Lab reports and a group project will contribute 30% to the course grade.
