LESSON PLAN
Unit : SMP
Grade / Term : VII / 1st semester
Subject : Science – Chemistry
Chapter : 2. Element, compound, and
mixture
Time : 2 x 40 minutes
A. STANDARD COMPETENCE :
Students are able to understand the elements, compounds and
mixtures.
B. COMPETENCE BASIC:
Comparing the characteristics of element, compo und and mixture.
C. INDICATORS TO ACTIVE COMPETENC:
1. Comparing the characteristics of element, compo
und and mixture based of observation.
2. Making a simple classification table of the
materials.
3. Grouping the daily life substances into homogene
ous and heterogeneous.
D. OBJECTIVES:
The first lesson
Students are able to:
1. Identifying the characteristics of element, compound and mixture.
2. Comparing the characteristics of element, component and mixture
based of observation.
3. Explaining the definition of homogeneous mixture and
heterogeneous mixture.
E. TEACHING MATERIALS:
- Element is a single substance that cannot be bro ken down into
simpler substance by chemical reaction ( not nuclear
reaction ).Element consist of similar atoms.
- Compound is a single substance that consist of more than one
elements with special proportion and various forming components.
– Mixture is a combination of two or more substances. The component
of a mixture are not react one another and not special proportion.
– Mixture can be grouped into two types, homogenous and
heterogeneous.
– Homogeneous mixture is the mixture that it’s composition has a
similarity in each part.
– Homogeneous mixture is also names solution.
– Heterogeneous mixture is the composition has not similarity in
each part.
Teaching Models:
Cooperative teaching, discussion, experiment, presentation.
Scientific Skills: identifying, classifying, communicating predicting.
F. Teaching Learning Processes
1. Introduction.
a. Remind the student about the concept of element compound
and mixture.
b. Motivate students by asking.
- what do you know about element?
- Your according how characteristic element
compound and mixture?
2. Main Activities.
a. The teacher asks the students to make a group of five and
assign them to observe the materials on their table.
b. The teacher guides the student while they are working in
group.
c. The teacher asks the student to present and discuss the
results.
d. The teacher asks them to draw the conclusion.
3. Closure
- The teacher ask the students to write down materials in the
kitchen and classify them into Groups of element, compound and
mixture.
