OpenText Archive Server Storage Platforms 7 SAN Storage Systems 7.1 General Information When using SAN Storage systems the following features have to be supported: Provide "look&feel" of locally attached hard Data is stored on hard disks only (no relocation to tape, optical, ...) Provide high-performance and random access to data and metadata (file system metadata, e.g. directory structures) Support multi-threaded access Standard file system calls (read, write, stat, delete etc.) locally attached hard disks Customers using such systems have to assure against data loss by backup and have to execute sanity checks regularly 7.2 Infrastructure The implementation of the connection with which the SAN Storage system is attached must be transparent to the application.
Important SAN disks without retention periods and WORM feature are not certified. In general, pure SAN disk are not recommended as storage systems for content.
