Net Enabled Weapons

The document discusses net enabled weapons and their role in supporting anti-surface warfare missions. Net enabled weapons allow for in-flight target updates and retargeting to improve engagement of moving targets. Programs like JSOW C-1, Harpoon Block II+, and efforts to enable sensor to weapon targeting and weapon to weapon coordination are working to advance this capability. Challenges include developing requirements, defining network architectures, identifying platforms, and funding integration on platforms.

OBJECTIVES

Integrate Link-16, J11 message into JSTARS and LSRS,
enabling Joint ISR platforms to act as third party targeting
sources (3PS) for Net Enabled Weapons (NEW)

Ensure J11 interoperability with the JSOW-C-1, and F/A-
18E/F programs of record

Develop the associated CONOPS/TTPs

Validate CONOPS/TTPs (SIMEX/Flight tests)
JSUW JCTD
RESULTS

Interoperability between 4 platforms achieved (LSRS,
JSTARS, JSOW, F/A-18) during 33 Successful Flight Test runs

J11 Message Set Development defined and standardized
Mil-STD-6016D App X updated for NATO approval

First ever IFTU from ISR platform to a NEW in-flight

First ever in-flight retargeting of a NEW

CONOPS/TTPs delivered to PACFLT

"I recommend the JSuW System transition to associated PORs for further integration
and follow-on testing" - RADM David A Dunaway, COTF
