This information can be used as a training tool or user guide. The Liaison Glossary/Acronym guide is included with this document as an appendix. 1.1 Targeted Audience The Liaison Agent User Guide is targeted towards nontechnical Liaison users. !xamples are provided for each topic covered from a nontechnical perspective. "ndividual airline trainers and supervisors are encouraged to provide additional functionality examples as needed. 2.0 What is Liaison? L"A"#$% is a software application created by #"TA&s #peciali'ed (esign and (evelopment team. The Liaison product line is designed to provide terminal emulation access to Unisys and ")* mainframes. "t also provides a graphical user interface +GU", to - existing mainframe legacy applications, .hec/in, )oarding and 0orldtracer. 1or users with scripting re2uirements, Liaison provides a scripting tool called Liaison #cript Assistant to help simplify the scriptwriting process. This feature is intended for use by technical support personnel with programming language bac/grounds and will not be addressed in depth for this guide. Liaison runs on 0indows 34/35, 0indows %T 6 0indows 7888 and is fully certified on the #"TA .UT! and A9"%. *U#! platforms:. Using 0indows %T Terminal #erver, Liaison can also run on thin client terminals. Users of Liaison have their choice of three communication types; T.</"< =.74 =.75 dialup. 2.1 Liaison Basics After installation of Liaison software on a user wor/station, the application can be accessed via des/top icon. The Liaison icon is a graphical representation of a globe +planet,. Liaison Icon (oubleclic/ing on this icon launches the .ommander toolbar. The .ommander toolbar serves as a central access point to all Liaison sessions. All configured Liaison sessions appear on the .ommander toolbar as icons. (ouble clic/ing an icon on the toolbar will open the corresponding session. #eparate sessions must be used for different GU" applications. 1or example, an agent using both .hec/in and )oarding applications would need to have a session configured for each. Session Icons 2.2 Access to Liaison Sessions
*ost users of Liaison begin their use of the product after session configuration. "n this case, re2uired sessions are already available as icons on the .ommander toolbar once Liaison is launched. Launching a #ession > To launch a session, doubleclic/ the session icon on the .ommander toolbar. (epending on the configuration of the session, it will open either as an emulator window or a GU" for a specific application. $nce the Liaison session window has opened, the session name description can be located in the title bar on the upper left side of the window. .02Liaison Session !eatures The Liaison emulator window offers various tools and options to the user. These options are accessible from the Liaison pulldown menus +such as 1ile, !dit, etc, and also via toolbar icon. The session status bar +bottom of session window, displays connect status, capture status, emulator type, date/time and row/column information. ?arying statuses such as message wait indicators and system wait indicators are also displayed on the session status bar. To connect to the #"TA networ/, a user must provide a login username and password for terminal security. Usernames and passwords for agents are re2uested from #"TA by Airline @ead2uarters. Login information can be provided during session configuration or provided by the user at each session launch. 0hen the user login is provided during session configuration, the session will automatically log the user in at each session launch. "f user login information is not provided during configuration, the user will be prompted to enter it +system response; A!%T!9 U#!9 "(/<A##0$9(B, at each session launch. %ote; Liaison&s default transmit /ey is Cscroll loc/D. +#ection E.-, $nce a user has logged into the #"TA networ/, an Agent #ignin is re2uired to advance further. Agent #ignins are assigned by and must be re2uested from a user&s Airline @ead2uarters. These settings are determined during configuration and before the first use of the session. 1rom an emulator window default launch, the GU" for the application being used can be accessed by clic/ing the 1ile pulldown window and selecting )ac/ to ABGU"BB +GU" application name can be G.hec/in&, G)oarding&, G0orldTracer&, etc,. Emulator Window ( )ccessing *+I $nce a user has accessed a GU" window for an application, A!xpert *ode& must be selected from the GU" pulldown menu to return to the emulator window. .ommands executed in the GU" window will appear as Gabriel commands in the emulator window. 1or example, if a passenger list is accessed in the GU" window, the same listing will appear in the emulator window if the user returns to expert mode. <lease refer to Appendices ), . 6 ( for examples of other application GU"s. Wor)ing %ith Split Screens Liaison #plit #creens are additional emulator screens used to display different functions and results within the same session. Liaison provides split screen capability for emulator sessions to allow the user the ability to switch between different functions without losing existing data on any individual screen. Liaison features the ability to wor/ in as many as five split screens for a single session. Liaison users can toggle between split screens by pressing CctrlD H CtabD. Split Screen Setup The Liaison split screen setup window can be accessed by clic/ing the G?iew& pulldown menu, then clic/ing G#plit #creen& / G#etup&. Split screen menu options The resulting window gives the user the option to select up to five split screens, each identified by a letter +A, ), ., (, and the original session name in the title bar. 1or users who will access split screens fre2uently, there is an option to automatically split screens at session launch.

These options are accessible from the split screen pulldown menu and can be used once split screens have been launched. The G#plit& option in the split screen menu allows the user to access split screens at any point during an open session. The G#hrin/& option will close split screens, leaving the original session window open. Use of split screens allows the user greater flexibility between transactions without losing convenient screen data. (ifferent types of transactions can be delegated to a specific screen without affecting other split screen windows. 1or example, an emulator main window may be used to display and refresh a complete passenger list, while; #plit #creen A is used to process passengers with special needs #plit #creen ) is used to process passengers to be Gunchec/ed& #plit #creen . is used to process standby passengers #plit #creen ( is used to process wal/up passengers without reservations. .1.* +rint Screens The print screen option for Liaison is used to print the current contents of a user&s screen without saving the contents to a file. <rint screens can be launched by clic/ing the G1ile& pulldown menu and selecting G<rint& or by toolbar icon. Cutpaste menu options .opy 1eature The G.opy& feature can be used to copy text from one location on the window or screen and place it at another location. This can be accomplished in Liaison by using the mouse. Text can be copied from the screen by first selecting it with the mouse, then clic/ing either the G.opy& icon or selecting the G!dit& pulldown menu and selecting the G.opy& option. <aste 1eature The paste feature allows for the actual placement of text that has been copied. <asting of text can be accomplished by placing the cursor at the desired paste location, then clic/ing the G<aste& icon or selecting the G!dit& pulldown menu and selecting the G<aste& option. Liaison default paste settings are set to Goverwrite&. This means that pasted text will overwrite any existing text at the paste location. <aste options can also be set to Ginsert&, meaning that pasted text will be inserted in front of any existing text at the paste location. The paste options window can be found by selecting the G!dit& pulldown menu, then selecting G<aste $ptions&. Paste 0ptions Window Tool bar Icons$ % Copy& %Paste& .1.7 Trac)ing Co$$ands The Liaison G9ecent .ommands& feature was designed to allow user access to a listing of the most recent commands entered into the emulator. The recent commands window can be accessed by selecting the G?iew& pulldown menu, then selecting G9ecent .ommands& 1iew recent commands menu option (2001 S!"A All #ig$ts #eserved "$e in%or&ation contained $erein is t$e 'ro'ert( o% S!"A. Legal action )ill *e ta+en against an( in%ringe&ent. 08,28,14 Page 10 o% 5- Passenger Solutions and Services Liaison Agent User Guide The recent commands option is different from screen capture in that it does not copy the actual results of the commands listed. .ommands listed can be executed by double clic/ing them with the mouse. .ommands can also be executed from the /eyboard using arrow /eys to move to the desired command and then pressing the Genter& /ey. Recent commands window There are no toolbar icons for this feature. .1.8 Toolbar and Status #ispla,s The icon toolbar and status bar on the Liaison emulator window are defaulted to appear for the user&s convenience. @owever, these features can be removed from the emulator window at the user&s discretion. 0hen either feature is enabled, it will appear chec/ed on the pulldown menu. "f either feature has been disabled, it will appear as unchec/ed. Toolbar and status bar settings can be enabled or disabled by selecting or clic/ing on the item in the pulldown window. Liaison toolbar and status bar settings can be accessed by selecting the G?iew& pulldown menu. S0( 0ptions "n the context of use with Liaison, #$! is an acronym for G#tart of !ntry&. #tart of !ntry is the point at which an emulator screen will accept commands from the user. .ommands entered at a location where there is no #$! will not be accepted by the Liaison emulator. Liaison offers different methods for users to place the #$! at the desired location on the emulator screen; @ome Location The Ghome location& on the Liaison emulator is the first row, first column of the screen. .ommands entered at this point will be accepted by the emulator without an #$! character being present.

An #$! can be placed at any point on the emulator screen by first placing the cursor in the desired location, then clic/ing the G#$!& icon on the Liaison toolbar. %ote; the Iey *ap option for #$! is C.trlD H s. +#ee #ection E.-, Toolbar Icons$ %S0E& .2 Liaison Ad.anced !eatures The following features are considered advanced aspects of Liaison usage. .2.1 Screen Snapshots A screen snapshot is the process during which an emulator records or Gsnaps a picture& of current screen contents. The recorded contents can then be saved to a new text file or appended to an existing text file. #napshots can be used if a user has specific onscreen data to be saved. #napshots of screen contents can be ta/en by clic/ing the G1ile& pulldown menu then selecting G#creen #napshot&. Screen snaps,ot sa3e prompt window 1rom the save prompt, a user can provide a name for the snapshot as a new file, or select an existing file to append or overwrite the snapshot to. %ew #napshots <roviding a name for a new snapshot file and clic/ing G$pen& will save the file to .;J<rogram 1ilesJ#"TAJLiaisonJ#cripts. The save prompt window will remember the last directory accessed. "f another directory is chosen, the save prompt window will automatically return to that directory to save the next snapshot. $verwriting or Appending #napshots To overwrite or append a snapshot to an existing snapshot file, the user must select the snapshot in the save prompt window and clic/ G$pen&. "f the user chooses to Append to the existing file, the current screen snapshot contents will be appended at the end of the existing file contents. Liaison saves all screen snapshots as notepad.exe or G6t5t& files. Toolbar Icons$ %Snaps,ot& .2.2 Screen Captures A screen capture is the process during which the user records or Gcaptures& emulator command inputs and results for a specified period of time. The recorded commands and results can then be saved to a text file for future use or appended onto an existing file. #creen capturing is ideal for use in recording and documenting errors, processes or specific settings and parameters. 1or example, if a user encounters an error in processing, screen capture could be used to document that error for correction efforts. #creen capture can also be used to document processes for example use or as future reference material for other agents. 1or rarely used processes that re2uire complicated command se2uences, screen capture can be used to record the codes and parameters used and the format of process results. #creen capture can be launched by clic/ing the G1ile& pulldown menu and selecting G#creen .apture& or it can be accessed by toolbar icon. Screen capture menu item 7ote$ t,e Liaison emulator status bar includes a %capture on capture off& status indicator6 $nce screen capture has been launched, Liaison prompts the user to name the capture file prior to recording. The save prompt window will remember the last directory accessed. "f another directory is chosen, the save prompt window will automatically return to that directory to save the next screen capture. $verwriting or Appending #creen .apture 1iles To over write or append a capture file to an existing capture file, the user must select the capture in the save prompt window and clic/ G$pen&. This will launch the G1ile !xists& prompt, allowing the user to select an action. 4ile e5ists window "f the user chooses to $verwrite the exiting file, the contents of the file will be replaced with current screen capture. "f the user chooses to append to the exiting file, the current screen capture will be appended at the end of the existing screen capture. .lic/ing G$verwrite& or GAppend& on this screen will begin recording. .ompleting #creen .aptures (2001 S!"A All #ig$ts #eserved "$e in%or&ation contained $erein is t$e 'ro'ert( o% S!"A. Legal action )ill *e ta+en against an( in%ringe&ent. 08,28,14 Page 16 o% 5- Passenger Solutions and Services Liaison Agent User Guide $nce a user has started recording a screen capture, the status bar on / off indicator will display as G.apture $n&. $nce all desired commands and results have been accomplished, the user may end recording by clic/ing the G1ile& pulldown menu and selecting G#creen .apture& again, or clic/ing the G#creen .apture& icon. $nce recording is complete, the G1inished .apturing& prompt appears, giving the user an option to view or print the captured data immediately. .lic/ing GKes& will open the capture file, ma/ing it available for printing, while clic/ing G%o& will stop recording the capture and return the user to the emulator window. The capture file can then be accessed at another time. 4inis,ed capturing prompt Liaison saves all screen captures as notepad.exe or G.txt& files. Toolbar Icon$ %Screen Capture& .2. 1ecording and +la,bac) Liaison offers the options of recording and playing bac/ scripts and macros. These options are provided for use in automating simple commands entered by the user. (etailed scripts re2uiring computer programming experience should be handled by technical personnel and will not be addressed in this section. .2..1 1ecording and +la,bac) of Scripts A script is a collection of functions or commands listed and performed in a specific order to automate and complete a specific process or multiple processes. #cripts are best used for processes that are fre2uently performed or processes that contain many steps. 1or example, if an agent would li/e to access a passenger list and perform a number of generic commands in a single step, recording the commands as a script allows that flexibility. A script recording is the process during which the user records emulator commands inputs. The recorded commands are then saved to a text file. #cript recording can be launched by clic/ing the G1ile& pulldown menu and selecting G9ecord #cript& or by toolbar icon. Script sa3e prompt window 1rom the save prompt, a user can provide a name for the script as a new file, or select an existing file to append or overwrite the script to. %ew #cripts <roviding a name for a new script and clic/ing G$pen& will save the file to .;J<rogram 1ilesJ#"TAJLiaisonJ#cripts. The save prompt window will remember the last directory accessed. "f another directory is chosen, the save prompt window will automatically return to that directory to save the next script. $verwriting or Appending #napshots To overwrite an entire script or append specific commands to an existing script, the user must select the script to be overwritten or amended in the prompt window and clic/ G$pen&. This will launch the G1ile !xists& prompt, allowing the user to select an action.

"f the user chooses to Append to the existing file, the current script contents will be appended at the end of the existing script. "f the user then would li/e to move commands to a different place in the text file script, the cut/copy and paste commands within notepad.exe can be used. .ompleting a #cript 9ecording $nce a user has started recording a script, the status bar on / off indicator will display as G9ecording $%&. 0hen the script is complete, the user may end recording by clic/ing the G1ile& pulldown menu and selecting G#top 9ecording&, or clic/ing the G9ecord #cript& icon again. $nce recording is halted, the GLiaison Terminal& window appears, listing the location of the script. .lic/ing G$I& will return the user to the emulator window. 4inis, script recording prompt 8Liaison Terminal9 Liaison saves all script files as G.txt& text files in notepad.exe. #cript <laybac/ #cript playbac/ runs the emulator commands saved in a script file as if they were realtime commands. Liaison users can launch script <laybac/ by clic/ing the G1ile& pulldown menu and selecting G<laybac/ #cript& or by toolbar icon. Upon launching script playbac/, Liaison prompts the user to choose the script name. Script selection prompt window 1rom this window, the user can select a script and select G$pen& to play it bac/.
