SEPT. 7, TAILGATE PARTY AND HIGH
ATTENDANCE IN SUNDAY SCHOOL. With so much going
on in these past few weeks we have tended to overlook the things
that are positive in our church. One of those is the annual
Tailgate Party which kicks off the New Church Year. As you
remember we encourage each attendee to wear their favorite
team colors or jerseys and join us for Sunday School and
Worship. This is followed by a tailgating lunch at the church.
No goal has been set for the day but I think we should
have at least 400 in Sunday School that morning. I reach that
figure by just thinking of those on roll who could be here and are
not. It does not include the prospects that are attending or the
friends we could invite. I hope your class will set a goal this
Sunday.
In keeping with what we have done in the past we will
have 8:30 and 11:00 AM services on the 7th. But no evening
service.
The church met in a called conference on Wednesday
evening, August 20, to consider a motion from the Personnel
Committee to terminate the employment of Art Bruce as Minister
of Music at First Baptist Church. The church reconvened on
August 27, in conference, to vote on the recommendation. The
recommendation failed by a vote of 139 for and 148 against.
Now is the time for the church to come together in
healing. Come this Sunday to worship God.
I look forward to seeing you then.

CHILDRENS CHOIRS HAVE BEGUN
We had a great group of children in all the choirs last
Wednesday. We encourage parents and grandparents to
bring their kids to choir each week to receive the best of
training, music and love from our choir ladies. The choirs
meet from 5:45 to 6:20 PM each Wednesday. The choir
leaders look forward to meeting, teaching and loving your
child as they attend their appropriate age group.
SAINTS ALIVE
Another great year of singing and ministry in the SAINTS
ALIVE CHOIR has begun. Bring a friend on Monday, Sep-
tember 8 which will be our next rehearsal. (No rehearsal
this Monday, Sept. 1-Labor Day) Thanks for your commit-
ment and willingness to learn! Welcome to new and all re-
turning members. The new music for our Sr. Adult Choir
Festival is in and we love it! .
P.S Thanks for sharing Cornerstone Medley in the PM
worship time last Sunday. I heard lots of complements from
those who attended.
FELLOWSHIP CLUB
Monday, September 1 would be our normal time for our
Fellowship Club meeting, but, because it falls on Labor
Day, we have postponed it one week. Jerry and Deborah
Murkerson will be playing some great music for us, as he
plays guitar & mandolin and she plays the bass. It will be a
great program. Meet us at noon, Monday, September 8 for
our next time of fellowship and fun together.
FALL JUBILEE
The FALL JUBILEE for Senior Adults will be held at the
Gatlinburg Convention Center, Sept. 29-Oct. 1. Space is
limited. Call me for details.

Sunday Nights
Our students will begin meeting on Sunday nights starting at
5:15 beginning September 14. Our time together will
incorporate a number of different things. This will involve a
time of bible study, singing, building relationships, and
community. Mark you calendar for September 14th when we
will kickoff our time together on Sunday nights!!!
Parents
Be looking out for information about a meeting for parents of
students that are a part of the youth ministry. We will plan to
meet together about four times throughout the year. The
purpose will be to discuss the planed events of the youth
ministry as well as a time for you to ask questions and
discover how you can be involved!!
Blessings,
Jeff
