RABH Vs Pulse Jet Bag Filter

The document compares two types of bag filters: reverse air bag houses (RABH) and pulse jet bag houses (PJBH). RABH require a lower air-to-cloth ratio and larger overall size but extend bag life through gentle reverse air cleaning without compressed air. PJBH require a higher air-to-cloth ratio and smaller overall size, use compressed air for cleaning which reduces bag life, and maintain off-gas temperatures safely above acid dew points to prevent erosion of steel parts.

Comparison between RABH & Pulse Jet Bag Filter

Sl. No Parameters Reverse Air Bag House (RABH) Pulse Jet Bag House (PJBH)
1. A/C Ratio or filtering
velocity
Air to cloth ratio is lower than
pulse jet type bag filter. Which
means higher filtration area is
required.
Due to higher A/C ratio less
filtration area is required.
2. Overall size of Bag House Due to lower A/C ratio overall
size of bag house is higher
(approx. 40%)compared to
pulse jet.
Due to higher A/C ratio overall
size is less.
3. Bag Cleaning Bag is cleaned by reverse air
from bag filter outlet. Hence
no compressed air is required
but additional RA fan is
required.
Separate compressed air is
required for bag cleaning. But
no RA fan is required.
4. Bag Life Gentle reverse air cleaning
prolongs bag life of RABH.
As high pressure purging
through compressed air is
used for bag cleaning, life of
bags are lesser.
5. Off gas Temp. Off gas temp. on bag
membrane surface drops to
40 - 45C approx. due to low
interstitial velocity &
approaches acid dew point
and which may affect steel
parts.
Here only 20C drop is
expected on bag membrane
surface. Hence off gas temp.
will be around 20-25C above
acid dew point and no erosion
effect on steel part.
6. Effective Height of Unit
