First Edition Volvo XC90 sells out
in 47 hours during online launch
THE First Edition of Volvos all-new
XC90 1,927 individually numbered
cars only available for sale online sold
out in 47 hours.
Most of the cars were reserved within
one hour from when the sale started.
At its peak, seven cars were sold every
minute.
UK customers secured 55 of the First
Edition models, which will be delivered
in April 2015.
Commenting on the event, Alain Vis-
ser, Senior Vice President, Marketing,
Sales and Customer Service of Volvo
Car Group, said: We are very pleased,
but not really surprised. The huge in-
terest in the XC90 escalated to astro-
nomical levels after the world-premiere
last week.
An innovative sales launch saw the
First Edition cars, which celebrate the
year Volvo was founded, made available
to customers online only at volvocars.
com
The 1,927 First Edition owners will
get a high-spec car with uniquely num-
bered tread plates and a distinctive
badge on the tailgate.
First Edition models will be powered
by a high-performance diesel engine
from Volvos new four-cylinder Drive-
E powertrains. The D5 twin turbo die-
sel engine boasts 225 horsepower and
is mated to an eight-speed automatic
transmission.

Scheme offers help for winter
FOLLOWING recent headlines
around the importance of improv-
ing warmth in the homes of the
vulnerable, an initiative available
Warmth scheme works with a range
of community organisations, chari-
ties and local authorities to assist
vulnerable homeowners across Eng-
land and Wales fund installation or
repair of crucial heating measures,
such as boilers, in the home.
With renewed guidance from The
National Institute of Health and
Care Excellence (NICE) calling for
the wider community to work to-
gether to ensure vulnerable resi-
dents are not left in the cold, the
scheme is encouraging residents to
find out about available help.
Homeowners in South Wales
who have a long-term illness,
a low income with little or no
savings and who are unable to
fully fund heating measures
in their homes may be able to
benefit. They do not have to
be, or even become, an npower
customer to benefit.

The npower Health Through
Warmth initiative, together with
one of its partners, the home im-
provement charity Foundations In-
dependent Living Trust (FILT), has
been shortlisted in this years na-
tional Charity Times Award.
The scheme started in 2000 and
since its launch, almost 84,000 vul-
nerable residents across England
and Wales have been referred to it
for help with their heating.
