Poetic Reflections On Proverbs

Introduction

I wrote this book during my private devotional time over a period of

about six months, reading and rereading, rewriting and studying scriptures,
praying and sometimes fasting. I first studied the book of Proverbs taking notes
as I meditated. Then I went back to each proverb to write a poem about it. In
some cases, the poem written is a summary of a particular proverb as in the
poem written for Proverb 30 entitled “Five Things of Four on Earth." In other
cases, the theme for a poem came from one or two verses which spoke to my
heart from the proverb of the day as in the example of “The Truth Stands
Forever” based on Proverbs 12:9. Another approach used, was to take a verse
from proverbs and link & build a poem to other verses from other parts of the
Bible. The benefit of this is that the understanding of the Word of God can be
illuminated by comparing scriptures with other scriptures. The scriptures
confirm itself with the many consistencies throughout the 66 books of the Bible.
I added scriptural references to each poem as a support to the themes in the
Word of God brought out by the poems.

The only Bible used for this book was the King James Version of the
Bible; however you may want to use other versions of the Bible but know that
scriptural references may not be consistent with the poetry’s meaning in this
book. The most important thing is that you study with the goal of applying what
you discover about God’s word.

The blessing of this book is twofold. It has been a blessing for me to

write it and I pray that this book will be a blessing to all who read and use it to
assess their personal relationship with God.

I suggest you pace your reading. If you are pressed for time as most of
us are, read this book over a period of two to three months. Remember you are
reading this to meditate and digest the Word. Ponder the soul searching

5

inventory question, read the Proverb of the day and read the poem. Take your
time to meditate on just this the first day. On the second day, I suggest you

Introduction

reread the poem and begin to examine the additional scriptures. Ask yourself
questions and ponder these things. If you wish, take notes. On the third day,
you can read the poem one more time and study the Further Study Bible verses.
Always keep in mind your soul searching inventory question as it pertains to you
personally. Watch and pray during the day for God to answers any questions
you may have and believe he will answer you. You will be surprised as to how
much God reveals to you about yourself when you open your heart and mind to
the word of God. When you divide each entry into three parts, it will take you
approximately ten to fifteen minutes a day for ninety-three days. You may want
to read each study assignment within two days. Do this by reading the Soul
Searching Inventory Question, the first scriptural references and the poem for
the day. Then reread the poem, SSI and study the Further Study Bible
References the next day .On average, it may take you 20 to 25 minutes a day for
sixty-two days. If you want to read everything assigned to one proverb once a
day, the SSI, the poem and all the scriptures for the day, it should take you
approximately forty-five minutes a day for thirty-one days.

It is up to the reader to decide what is best for them, when they use this book as
a study tool, for private devotionals or group study. One can use this book for
private prayer and meditation, a small group bible study, such as a cell group or
home fellowship or even for a Sunday school or workshop environment. The
function or method you want to use in the application of this book as a
devotional should best be used as it fits your needs.

May God further enrich your life by the study of God’s Word.

influence it has had on you.

What Does It Mean To Fear The Lord?

9/12/13

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

When we hold on to wisdom,

We hold on to life.

Wisdom will guide our life into the everlasting life of the Life of Christ.

It will guide us into the truth,

The truth that sets us free.

It will guide us into love,

For God is love.

It will guide us into power,

The POWER of HIS WORD!

The Knowledge of the Lord can preserve us.

To know wisdom and instruction,

To understand the word of God,

8
Expressions of Definitions Redefined Book 3
Poetic Reflections On Proverbs

To receive wise counsel,

To exercise justice, judgment, and equity will be accomplished when we fear the
Lord.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

Without it we shall fall

Into the darkness of Hell,

On Earth
And in the hereafter.

We Will Fall,
Into the patterns which will destroy us,

Into the works of the flesh.

Who so receives Wisdom shall dwell safely and will not fear a recompense of
evil.

God is the one who possesses Wisdom and God is the one, who abundantly
shares her,

TO ALL WHO FEAR HIM.

She is above the price of all precious jewels,

Above the price of money,

And above the price of land.

Her value cannot be measured.

They that receive God’s Wisdom

Gain an understanding of God’s thoughts.

They that receive God’s Wisdom

Proverbs 2 Soul Searching Inventory Question: When is discretion

most valuable for you to have?

Read: Proverb 2, 2 Samuel 14:17, Psalms 112:1-5, Proverbs

1:1-4, 3:20-22, 5:1-2, 11:22, 19:11

Discretion
9/12/13

Discretion will preserve our spiritual life,

But worldliness will dissipate it.

The pride of life

All envy and strife,

Overeating

And substance abuse,

Are all in our sinful nature,

Yet discipline and discretion will put reigns on us,

And prudence acts as a preservative to keep us from yielding to evil ways.

"As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout so is a fair woman which is

without discretion" (Proverbs 11:22)

What does gold do for a pig?

Does it enhance its beauty?

What value does it have in the eyes of the pig?

It only becomes defiled and useless,

11
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

Soiled and impure.

It's true function is hidden;

It's true worth null and void,

For without discretion,

Your potential to become what God has ordain is ruined.

Discretion is the application of God’s word

That will sanctify us for the master’s use.

It gives us the mind to separate ourselves from the influence of evil.

Discretion is the use of understanding,

To apply our hearts while we live this life,

As we live to delight

The Lord.

Let us live in His sight with His grace.

Let us live with the Word of God in our minds.

Let us live with the love of God in our hearts,

And with the power of God in our souls.

Love the Lord with all your strength,

With all you soul,

With all your mind,

And with all your heart.

Our Own Conceit Brings Defeat

9/12/13

Our own conceit brings defeat and pride comes before a fall.
To be wise in one’s own conceit brings destruction into our lives.
It may seem right and feel right to follow one’s own heart,
But the heart is deceitful and wants what it wants,
Not the things of the Lord.

We must trust in the Lord;

Drop our own notions
And pick up a life of love and devotion,
A devotion to the Lord,
A devotion to His Word,
For His thoughts are much higher than ours.

His wisdom is what we need,

Not our own pride or our own conceit.
With His wisdom, God created the heavens and the earth.
But our own conceit brings defeat.

It brings defeat by the enemy of our souls.

It brings defeat by the powers of darkness,
To the poverty of our souls.

All our righteousness is as filthy rags

All God’s righteousness is pure.

14
Expressions of Definitions Redefined Book 3
Poetic Reflections On Proverbs

All our pomp is worthless show.

Trust in the Lord and use what he knows.

Receive the favor of the Lord.

It will lengthen the days of your life,
And secure your eternal life.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine
own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy
paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

God will uphold those who trust in Him.

He will grant us great peace.

“Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from
evil.” (Proverbs 3:7)

Be not like the fool who lacks understanding,

Who despises wisdom and instruction,
For shame is the promotion of fools.
Yes it is,
But it is also the demotion of the once righteous who fall by their own conceit.

Wisdom Is The Principle Thing

9/12/13

With age and experience should come an abundance of wisdom,

But not always.
It only comes if we have exercised wisdom,
And have sought after wisdom as we live from day to day.

”Wisdom is the principle thing. Therefore get wisdom.” (Proverbs

4:7)
It is the primary source for the riches of life.
He that loves wisdom,
Loves life.

If we seek for understanding all our lives,

When we are old we will have much to offer.
Others will look to us to pass on that wisdom.

Wisdom is a necessary good.

With wise counsel purposes are established,
And we will be ready to face the challenges that confront us.
There is a blessing in receiving wisdom,
For knowledge and understanding will increase.

To the young seek out wisdom;

Absorb as much of it as you can.
To the old, use it, share it, yet sell it not.
Always keep it;
It never rots.
Keep wisdom,
Teach wisdom,
Live in the word.

Wisdom is the principle thing.

It will preserve us.
It will promote us,
If we honor her into our lives.
If we diligently seek her, she will keep our hearts pure.
Out of the heart come the issues of life,
While wisdom will guide us to help us live right.

By wisdom we will prosper.

For the mind will never be blind,
To the path of peace and righteousness.

Examine yourself meditate in the Word,

Diligently weigh your life against the messages you’ve heard.

Wisdom Loves Truth

9/14/13

Wisdom loves Truth.

He is her companion.
Wisdom and knowledge, as it is imparted through The Word
Always reveals God’s truth.

It is spoken through counsel.

It is lived by our lives as the unspoken light of truth.
It is shared through example.
It is embraced through obedience,
And is strengthen as we continue to trust in God.

The wise will rejoice in the Lord,

For truth will be their defense.

“Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for
joy, all ye that are upright in heart.” (Psalms 32:11)
The wise in heart love truth.

The wise will use discretion.

With discretion the lust of the flesh will be contained
From the lure of seduction,
From the woman that would ensnare a young man to fall,
And from the man that would ensnare that young woman to yield.

Discretion, wisdom and prudence will keep the child of God.

It will keep us through the trials we must face;
In temptations,
In conflicts,
In the issues of life;
In contentions,
Confrontations,
Of envy and strife.
Wisdom will keep our feet from falling.
For the wise will not only speak the truth,
But the wise will live in the light of truth.

The Heart
8/16/13

The heart is the seat of intellect, emotion, and volition.

What is in our thought life reveals to us what is in our hearts?
The heart is where wicked imaginations are devised.

What is your mind preoccupied with?

Does it think of the goodness of the Lord?
Of his love and of his peace?

What does your heart feel?

Is it in love with the holiness of God?

Who have you chosen to follow?

Are you following what Jesus would do?

20
Expressions of Definitions Redefined Book 3
Poetic Reflections On Proverbs

Is your mind preoccupied with material gain?

Or with selfish motives that would make you ashamed?

Are you anxious for anything?

Or angry at everything?

Have you left God behind?

No peace you can find?
What does this say of your heart?

”And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and
with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:
this is the first commandment.” (Mark 12:30)

First with the heart,

Then with the soul,
Then with the mind and all your strength,
For loving Him will activate God’s power for you and in you.

Yet the heart is deceitfully wicked when it is never cleansed by The Word.
The heart can have you fooled even to believe the truth to be a lie.
Why?

We are selfish by nature and want what WE WANT,

Our sinful natures can cause us to fall.
Even though, God never wants us to fall into abominations at all.
The flesh demands satisfaction for self in life,
But the Spirit demands a sanctified life.

The flesh says what feels good must be good.

What a lie that is!
What is holy must be good.
For God will always be…
HOLY,
RIGHTEOUS,
PURE,
AND TRUE
And invites YOU,
To trust in HIM.

God gave us our hearts to give ourselves back to HIM!

He loves us with all His heart, His entire mind and all His soul.

21
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

He loves us with all His strength all His power,

For GOD IS LOVE!
He wants our willful love.
The full reciprocation of love cannot exist
Without YOU and ME
And GOD in US
As GOD as ONE
In JESUS CHRIST
Our Hearts must be as ONE!

Yield Not To Temptations

10/26/13

You cannot see without the apple of your eye.

You cannot understand without wisdom.

You cannot see God’s will without instruction from the Lord.
You cannot build without labor.

Exercise God’s will with your hands.

Absorb God’s will into your heart.
Look at Wisdom as the apple of your eye.
Cherish her and she will love you.

22

Poetic Reflections On Proverbs

Love God’s law and the knowledge of the Lord;

Yield not to the lusts of the flesh.
For the flesh will one day be destroyed.
But the soul of a person is eternal.

There is a woman who is gorgeous and seductive.

Flattering with her tongue,
And alluring with her voice,
Soft to the touch,
Enticing to smell.
Hold her in your arms, kiss her intoxicating lips
And be poisoned by the demons of fornication and adultery,
That can spiral your soul to hell.

There is a man who is virile with skin so smooth.

His words make you feel like a queen.
His touch triggers passion and yearning.
With his tongue he says, “I love you baby”
But in his heart he only wants you,
For one more sexual escapade.
Flee fornication
Flee adultery too.
Preserve yourself for marriage
To the glory of God.
Use wisdom and discretion to carry you through…
The temptations that would destroy you.

Many a strong man has been destroyed

All through the power of seduction
And many a remarkable woman has been destroyed,
All through the power of seduction.
For seduction comes from Satan himself,
Enticing you to hell going down to the chambers of death.

The Priceless Worth Of Wisdom

9/20/13

Wisdom can be applied anywhere.

Yet so many of us have abandoned her to our own demise.

She would embrace us only if we would.

She would strengthen us only if we exercised her virtue and her truth.

She waits tirelessly calling to a dying world,

Always seeking those who are ready to receive her.
She hates relentlessly the fool who refuses to fear the Lord.
For they denounce righteousness and do what is evil in the eyes of God.

Wisdom is so precious,
Yet so many do not value her.
With her one can acquire great substance.

With her King Solomon became great

And many a soul has been blessed.
Wealth and security
Peace and joy,
Come to those who apply her best.

God has always possessed her

And delights in her wonderful glory,
When he strengthen the fountains of the deep,
When he appointed the foundations of the earth,
Before He even created the earth
Wisdom was always by Him. ALWAYS!

Blessed are all they who heed to Wisdom;

Watching and waiting,
Listening and praying,
Obeying and fearing the Lord,
But cursed are they that hate Wisdom.
They that hate Wisdom
Sin against their own soul,
And love Death.

A Just Recompense For Wisdom and For Folly

9/22/13

Wisdom is the builder who fortifies her house.

She prepares the best of all that we would need.
She speaks aloud to us
For she desires the best for us,
That our life might be full of the goodness of the Lord.

With her bread and wine,

She heals the simple mind,
So that the fool will no longer be a fool.

26

Poetic Reflections On Proverbs

With her rod of rebuke

Chains of sin will be loosed
To those who will yield to her correction.

There are those who are called as Apostle Paul was called,
To unfold the manifold wisdom of God.
They preach and teach The Word.
Take heed to the messages you’ve heard.
Climb to the mountain of understanding,
Reach the top by learning more,
By receiving the instruction of Wisdom.

God’s Wisdom is never ending.

His Wisdom is omniscient
The righteous will forever obey and thirst after it.

Increase your blessings,

Hold fast to Wisdom.
Forsake Wisdom and bear the consequences that come with foolishness.

Do not take on the behavior of a fool.

When one rebukes a fool,
The fool will hate you
And will continue in the sin they are in.
But when one rebukes a wise person,
The wise person will love you even more
And will become even wiser.
They will not end in destruction as the fool.

There is an adulterous woman, who once said,

“Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is
pleasant.”(Proverbs 9:17)
Stolen waters are never sweet,
And bread eaten in secret is not pleasant,
For evil done in secret will turn to bitterness,

When God exacts a just recompense,

And what is His recompense?

For the fool, the wages of sin is always death,
For the wise, the gift of God is eternal Life.
Through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God;
We are condemned through the knowledge of the law,
But the wise through faith receive remission from their sins,

The Righteous Will Reign On Earth

10/28/13

Diligence leads to riches,

Righteousness leads to life,
Unrighteousness leads to death
And hatred leads to strife.

Foolishness leads to destruction day by day,

And leave parents heavy hearted as their children go astray.

Poetic Reflections On Proverbs

“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of

correction shall drive it far from him.”(Proverbs 22:15)
Let us chasten them while there is hope.

Poverty destroys the poor,

But the wise will store knowledge against it.
The wicked lose their hope,
But the righteous are strengthen by joy.

Silence can be a virtue where even the fool seems wise.

Pride comes before a fall and brings our own demise.

A wise tongue is as gold,

Giving prosperity to those who receive it.
Just words are as silver,
Precious and refreshing to the soul.
But lies are hiding hatred,
And a foolish tongue is forward and bold.

The meek shall inherit the earth,

For God considers them righteous.
With humility, they obey the Word of God.
The righteous is an everlasting foundation.
The righteous will reign on earth.
For the righteous will uphold the Word.
They will lift up a standard of holiness.
They will reign for they will suffer with Christ.
They will follow His example.
They will do what is right.
They will follow the wisdom of God.
For the wisdom of God is in His Word.
For the wisdom of God is in Jesus Christ our Lord.

There is righteousness in Jesus Christ.

He is the good shepherd,
And the great I Am.
There is holiness in Jesus Christ.

29
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

He is the Word made flesh,

And the Son of God.
The righteous will follow Him.

The righteous will reign on earth,

With the Holy one of righteousness.
With the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom
of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”(Matthew
13:43)
It will be the righteous that overcomes.
It will be the righteous that reigns.
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his
throne.” (Revelations 3:21)

John saw a new heaven and a new earth,

Where the righteous would reign on earth.
Where the righteous would reign with Jesus Christ,
In the New Jerusalem.

There will be no more pain and no more sorrow.

God will wipe away the tears from our eyes in this New Jerusalem.

“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his
God, and he shall be my son.” (Revelation 21:7)

The righteous do reign on earth.

For we are the head and not the tail,
If we will harken to the voice of the Lord.

The righteous will be part of the first resurrection,

They shall be a people cleansed from their sins,
They shall be the saints of the most high God,
They shall be priests of God reigning with him.

God Loves And He Hates

10/28/13

Gracious women retain honor,

Strong men retain riches,
Both use the wisdom of the Lord.

31
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

To do justice and live upright.

To receive instruction and keep wisdom,
In all this the Lord loves and delights.

To exercise discretion,
To choose the path of life,
In all this the Lord loves and delights.

He delights in his people that worship Him.

He delights in his people that obey Him.

He delights in His word that lives in us.

He delights in His wisdom as in him we trust.

He delights in our fruit of righteousness and grants us the tree of life.

He delights in our generosity,
And makes the liberal soul fat and free.
He continually pours His blessings.
He continually pours His love.
He showers us with his spirit,
From the heavens up above.

God delights in many things but hates many things as well.

A proud look and a lying tongue are an abomination to Him.
The plotting of wicked schemes and the shedding of blood.
The false witness against the truth sets the devil loose.
It creates discord between brethren.
He hates an eager spirit to do evil and not good.
They are all abominations to Him.
The forwardness of man and cheating in transactions.
THEY ARE ALL ABOMINATIONS TO HIM!

They that do such things bring the wrath of God upon their heads.
God hates sin.
Yet they that repent of such things
And turn away from them,
He does forgive.

The Truth Stands Forever

10/28/13

The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue
is but for a moment.” (Proverbs 12:19)

33
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

The truth always stands the test of time,

But the lie is always exposed with time.

He that speaks the truth demonstrates righteousness,

But he that speaks falsehood demonstrates deceit.

The wicked can seduce with their lies,

But the truth of wise counsel will give one peace.

Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil.

But joy is in the heart of them that seek the truth in righteousness.

The truth will establish nations.

The truth will build a true church.
The truth will deliver those captive.
The truth will stand in the earth.

The truth will stand forever,

But the lie reveals itself.

Satan is the father of lies.

From the beginning he came to destroy.
Satan is the enemy of God.
It is His creation, mankind he targets to defeat,
With lies as his deceptive treats.

How does one avoid being deceived?

Measure it with the Word of God.

Answer it with the Word of God.
Test it with the Word of God.
Meditate on it with the Word of God.
Obey the Word of God,
Without doubting the Word of God.

The Way of The Transgressors is Hard

JoAnn Schehr Fashina

“The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the

snares of death. Good understanding giveth favour: but the way
of transgressors is hard.”(Proverbs 13:14-15)

The way of the transgressors is hard.

Don’t go back to the ways of the world.
To walk in darkness is hell on earth,
And will lead you to the path of death.

The way of the transgressors is hard.

If one walks in the lusts of flesh,
In sexual immorality fornication and adultery,
In malice and deceit.
They can never see God’s Kingdom,
They will never know His grace.
They will never have the peace of God,
They reject His loving embrace.

The way of the transgressors is hard.

Yet as long as they are still alive,
There is always hope,
The hope that they will repent of their ways,
The hope that they will turn to God.
Pray the prayers of intercession,
For their transgressions.
For the way of the transgressors is hard.

Look around you.

The pleasures of this world seem to be grand,
Yet the world is overrun with violence and disease,
Mental illness and poverty.
The way of the transgressors is hard.

The root of violence is hatred,

With contentions of racism and selfishness.
He that lives by the shedding of blood will die.
For the way of the transgressors is hard.

The Seems Right Way

37
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

10/30/12

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man but the end
thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs
16:25)

There is a way which seems right.

Satan best deceives in the seem right way,
And disguises as an angel of light.

There are so many things in this world that can destroy.

There are so many pitfalls to avoid.
There are so many things can ensnare the soul,
That plant the seeds of unrighteousness.
The mind can justify the worst of sins,
All to blind our hearts away from godliness.

There is a way which seems right.

Satan best deceives in the seem right way,
And disguises as an angel of light.

A faithful witness will not lie,

They will share the wisdom of God.
They will speak the word of truth,
They will love and teach with reproof,
To prevent the soul from error,
To prepare the soul for life.
The folly of fools is deceit.
But the wise promote eternal life.
There is a way that may seems right to us,
But in God’s word we must put our trust.
For anyone can be deceived.

If it had been possible Satan would have deceived the Christ,

If Jesus would just worship him.

All the Kingdoms of the world would go to Him.

It would have been the easy way for he would not have to die on the cross.
But imagine what would have happened if he had submitted to the devil,
All would had been lost.
Christ saw through this deception for he knew Satan had no kingdoms to give.
He knew his heavenly father had all power in his hands.
He knew the truth and loved the truth.
And rebuked that old slewfoot by saying,

9/30/13

Before honor is humility.

Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord.

Before a fall there is pride.

God resists the proud.

Before an abundance of Wisdom there is a fear of the Lord.

God will give life to the wise.

Before delusion there is disobedience.

God will allow deception to those who forsake the truth.

Before salvation one must repent,

With godly sorrow to the clearing of self.

Before fulfillment there is sacrifice.

Before baptism there is a confession of faith.
Before the Promised Holy Ghost,
Jesus died and rose up from the grave.

God is faithful to receive His people.

God is faithful to His Word.

God will strengthen those who believe.

He will hand us many blessing we can receive.
God will uplift those who are cast down,
He delivers the broken in heart.
God will bring down those who are proud in heart.
But the humble will be honored by Him.

10/1/13

“The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the
LORD trieth the hearts.”(Proverbs 17:3)

The Lord tries the hearts,

Of every man Of every woman.

But why?

He tries our hearts to seek out and to dig up

What is truly in us,

To help us choose what we will loose,

Or what we will hold on to.

The Lord tries the hearts.

When the trial of lost finances faces us,

What will we choose to do?

Will we put God first?

Will we tithes despite our circumstances?

Will we trust God to provide?

Or will we lose our faith instead?

With trials of sickness and afflictions.

When long term pain triggers despair

Will we complain and moan in bitterness?

Or will we hold on to His loving care?

Will we believe He can heal?

Or will we give in to the doubt we feel?

Will we hold on to our praise?

And believe in the power of HIS NAME?

Will we continue to trust Him?

Even when our suffering goes on and on

For days and even years?

Yet we only know it in part.

God’s Wisdom Strengthens The Wise

10/1/13

We are known by what we do,

For even a child this is true.
Yet, “Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from
my sin?” as in Proverbs 20:9?

NOONE!

The heart is deceitfully wicked.

“For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries,
fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies :”, says Matthew
15:19.

We can never be pure,

Without the fear of the Lord.
We can never be cleansed,

We can never be sanctified,
Without the Lord Jesus Christ.
We can never be justified,
Because of sin.

which are in the city.”
(Ezekiel 7:19)

With wisdom we can build up the fruit of the spirit,

With the love of the Lord that is stronger than death,
With the peace of God that passes understanding,
With the joy of the Lord that follows AS OUR STRENGTH!

53
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

With the longsuffering that even Christ has for us,

With gentleness to comfort the grieved and lost,
With faith to please the Lord our King,
With goodness as we walk in righteousness,
With meekness and humility inheriting the earth
Using temperance as our rule for there is no law against it.
Using all of these with wisdom for wisdom strengthens the wise.

There Is No Wisdom Against The Lord

10/8/13

“There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the

Lord” (Proverbs 21:30)

For those who side against the Lord they are no match,

For an all knowing God.

No match

For an all present God.

No match
For all power is in His hands.

To Him who has all wisdom and is the Creator,

He deserves all our praise!

He is righteous, He is holy,

The creator unto the ends of the earth!

He is faithful, He is true,

Providing salvation for me and you!

55
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

There is no truth or knowledge that can stand against our God.

For truth is never truth without God’s Word.

Knowledge is never knowledge without the wisdom of the Lord.

True wisdom does not exist without the Lord.

For wisdom is a possession of His.

Before time began,
Before the universe, wisdom has always been by Him.

“There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the

The Best Treasures

10/8/13

Riches and honor are sought after by many,

But what are the best treasures to have?
Loving favor and a good name,
Treasures of wisdom and peace in your soul,
Salvation and courage with unspeakable joy,
Walking in the light of life with new found victory in Christ,
Are the treasures that cannot be priced.

The riches of this world cannot heal you.

You can spend all your money on doctors and drugs,
And still die with the riches you will no longer have.

The riches of this world cannot assure peace of mind,

For worry increases as the world escalates with crimes.
Wealth cannot prevent death,
For just like the poor,
The Lord the maker of us all,
Controls the day we die.

57
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

True treasures are those things which are spiritual,

That never rots nor spoils.
True treasures produce blessing as we obey, in wisdom and in toil.

Fame and success are sought out by many,

But what will give you true fulfillment?
Love and sacrifice to the things that are right,
Faithfulness to our family and friends,
Serving the Lord by helping those in need,
Helping to clothe and feed those in poverty.

Fame and success is wonderful for the flesh,

But can ensnare the spiritual soul.
It is so easy for us to be lifted up with pride,
When one’s name becomes idolized.
Fame cannot guarantee happiness in life,
But if we obey the leading of the Lord,
In Jesus we are guaranteed joy.

With wisdom comes success in life,

In the natural and the spiritual.
All that we have belongs to God.
All who we are, God knows.
All who fear the Lord will have the greatest prize,
Whether they are rich or poor.
They will trust in Jesus to make them whole.
Abundance of Life will fulfill their present life
And He shall save their souls.

will not depart from it.”(Proverbs 22:6)

Chasten,
Live as an example in wisdom and truth.

Listen and watch,
Correct with love,
Keep the best interest of the child in mind.

They may be a daughter or a son,

A nephew or a niece,
A student or a protégé,
A youth who admires you.
Be that mentor and support
That they are looking for.

Parents withhold not reproof,

Withhold not the rod,
For foolishness is bound in the heart of a child.

When we love our children,

We desire what’s best for them,
Even if it hurts to discipline them.
God does the same for us.

“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every

son whom he receiveth.”
(Hebrews 12:6)

Just as God chastens us all to make us to be what we need to be.

We must correct our children.
We cannot leave them to raise themselves,
For a child left to themselves brings shame.

“The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that

begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.” (Proverbs 3:24)

Parents rejoice when their child uses the wisdom taught to them.
With joy they share the success their children have obtained.
Yet, when their child lives a life of foolishness the parents bear their shame.

Correct your child when they go astray and spank them while there is hope.

The Righteous Shall Judge With Jesus

10/10/13

“It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment”

(Proverbs 24:23)

We look at a person’s position, their status or their wealth.

We look at the outward appearance their beauty and their strength.
Judge not according to appearance but judge righteous judgment.
For there is no respect of persons with God.

61
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

Be not envious of others because of their riches or success,

For God searches our hearts and knows our intents.
God tries our hearts and knows what we resent.
He knows the evil in our thoughts and knows what man can’t see.
He knows the weaknesses of us all and desires our souls to be free.

It is what comes out of the heart that can defile.

It is the heart that must be cleansed.
We must confess and forsake our wicked ways,
Before we fall into sin again.
We must walk in God’s righteousness,
For His righteousness is great,
We must trust in God’s provisions,
For the just will live by faith.

Listen and obey the Lord to be wise.

Build upon the truth;
God’s word is truth.

Build upon Jesus Christ the Righteous one.

He will judge the world in righteousness.
He is the rock and cornerstone,
And He will build us up
With wisdom from His throne.

He prepares us in the smallest matters of life

To use wisdom and to live in His light.

We judge ourselves so not to be condemned.

We will judge the angels if we are Christ’s friend.

The Wisdom of Christ will help us in discerning.

True Glory Is In Christ The Lord

10/10/13

The sons of Zebedee asked Jesus if they could sit next to him in His glory,
one on his left and the other on his right in His kingdom. The disciples argued
amongst themselves who would be the greatest disciple amongst them. They
all sought out glory for themselves.

Proverbs 25:27 says, “It is not good to eat much honey: so for
men to search their own glory is not glory.:

63
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

The glory that one seeks out for oneself is not glory but pride.
True glory is given by God,
To those that humble themselves before Him.
The glory that God gives, glorifies the Lord in the life we live.
The glory that God gives is by His grace.
The glory that God gives is through our faith in Jesus Christ.

Those that receive glory from the Lord are those who fear the Lord.
They are wise.
With wisdom God grants us a crown of glory,
An ornament of grace.
With obedience comes glory for we trust in His word.
With righteousness follows glory,
We can have great peace with God.
But most of all through the trial of our faith more precious than gold,
We will be found unto praise and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

Glory, glorious,
Our Messiah is worthy of all praise!
Stupendous, Magnificent the ancient of days.
Praise Him Adore Him,
Let us make his praise glorious,
For the Lord is due our praise!

The resplendence of the Lord shines as the morning star.

All glory is in the name of the Lord.
All glory be to Christ for the glory is His,

“… when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see

him as he is.” (1 John 3:2)

He shall appear in the clouds in all his glory to come to catch up THE CHURCH!
Wait patiently for the coming of the Lord,
For we shall be like Him in all HIS GLORY!

The Fool In You

10/11/13

Foolishness begets more foolishness,

Yet wisdom begets life.

The foolish have lips of deceit.

They fall in their folly by being wise in their own conceit.
Proud are they.

65
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

They seek out ways to do evil and not good.

They have lying tongues,
Contentious day and night.
Violence is on their hands and in their hearts’
These things are their passion for destruction,
For the fool destroys themselves in their wickedness,
And avoid the wisdom of God.

The wise seek out understanding,

But the fool will lack just that,
Contentiously kindling strife,
And exercising sinfulness.

Do we apply wisdom in our lives?

We like to think ourselves to be wise,
For the reward of the wise is honor and life.
The wise will be granted success in life,
But are we using wisdom in every area of our lives?
In this life, sometimes we take on the life of a fool,
If we forsake the fear of the Lord,
If we forsake wise counsel,
And disobey God’s will,
If we feel we know more than the people in our lives that God has given us,
We are acting as a fool in our own conceit and can fall from the grace of God.

The wise will be diligent to make their calling and election sure.
The fool will be sluggardly about the upkeep of their own soul,
Believing that they have plenty of time to get right.
But just as the five foolish virgins who were not ready to meet the bridegroom,
They are not ready to meet the Lord.
They are not rapture ready.

Be ready!
Stay ready!
Be diligent in the Lord.

Be faithful!
Be steadfast!
And your reward will be assured.

There is sinfulness in us all,

There is the fool who wants to rule within us.
In the flesh there is no good thing in us,
It is in God that we must trust.

The flesh must die daily,

There is the fool in us to squash
We must pick up our cross,
Even if it seems too harsh.

We must fast and pray,

Trust God to lead the way.

Confess and forsake

Sin which overtakes…
The Soul.

Words Of Wisdom
10/12/13

67
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

Only God knows the future,

That is why we can never boast as to what we will do tomorrow.
We are not guaranteed to live another day.

One will never know the love you have if your actions never show it,
But one can be corrected in open rebuke, find deliverance and know it.

The Kisses of an enemy are deceitful,

Just as the kiss of Judas was on the cheek of Jesus.
He appeared to be his closest friend,
But in truth he was his worst enemy.

To the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

So hungry for food even unhealthy things may be appealing.
So hungry for love even those who would only use you may be welcomed.

A bird is in danger when she wanders too far from her nest,
Just as a soul is in danger of hell if they wonder too far from God’s word.

There are some things that can never be full.

Hell and destruction are never full.
As soon as Satan has destroyed one soul he looks for another to destroy,
The flesh can never be satisfied.
No matter how often you exercise the sins of the flesh, it always cries for more.

Riches never last forever,

Yet a fool would give their eternal soul away for wealth.

Be diligent to maintain the livelihood you have.

For God provides our every need yet gives us a charge to maintain our blessings.
Be diligent to make your calling and election sure,
For only the wise will be ready to meet the Lord.
In all that we say and in all that we do,
Let us live to the glory of the Lord.

Let us love,
Let us labor
Let us watch and pray
For we live in an evil time today.

Let us use God’s wisdom written in his word.

Confess And Repent

10/13/13

The wicked flee when no one is chasing them.

Why or how could this be?

Condemnation and fear

bring on delusions of dangers that aren’t there.
No peace of mind,
Guilt and worry consume them.

The wicked have many enemies and expect retaliation at any moment.
The wicked have no defense to protect them from their own devices of
destruction

None of their prayers can help them for they hate God’s law.
No man can save them for only God can save,
If only they would repent.

Repent for all have sinned and fallen short.

Repent for wickedness is in the heart of us all.
Repent and be cleansed,
Forgiveness will be your friend.

Forgiveness for God loves you.

Forgiveness for God waits for you,
To receive you as His own.

Confess your sins,

Forsake your sins,
Or you will never prosper.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our

sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his
word is not in us.” (1John 1:9-10)

God’s Vision Will Keep You

10/15/13

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth

the law, happy is he.”(Proverbs 29:18)

People need a vision, a goal to work in unity and a hope to exercise their faith.
If they have no vision and all their hope is lost,
They will perish as a people; they will waste away.
Keep the vision, proclaim the vision,
Speak life into your soul.
Be positive in your thinking be positive in what you say.
It will keep you whole.
Claim the blessings that God has promised us.
Cherish the promises of God each day.
Without a vision the people perish.
For in unbelief we cannot cherish…
The truth of God’s promises’.

Be careful in what you say, never hasty.

Once you have said whatever you have said,
It is impossible to take it back again.
You may be offensive in what you say,
Or may even lose a friend.
You may give secrets away,
That may be harmful to you or to others offend.
You may even sin with your tongue in exaggerations or lies.
Remember that Satan is the tempter who is always standing by.

Give consideration to the words you say for “Death and life are in the
power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit
thereof.”(Proverbs 18:21)

Words can deride a people in contention and discord.

Caleb and Joshua shared a vision that they would reach the promised land.

Hold on to God’s word,
Hold on to all his promises.

Four Things Of Five On Earth

10/16/13

Four creatures small but wise,

Four Things never satisfied,
Four wondrous things on earth,
Four things which grieve the earth,
Four things which are so very comely,
Proverbs chapter thirty mentions four things of five on earth.

There are four creatures that are wise.

The ants are called a people, in unity they labor,
And store their meat in summer before the winter’s bitter cold.
The conies are a folk that stick together.
They dwell within the rocks as a fortress tucked away.
The locusts fly in bands.
No leader do they need.
Yet in unity they fly and fulfill their destiny.
The spider wisely builds her web as intricate as can be.
They live in kings palaces within their treasury.

There are four thing never satisfied.

The grave will never say enough each one of us will die.
The barren womb is like the dessert no seed can ever grow.
And the dessert that has no water, no life can survive for long.
A fire will consume and destroys what it can touch.
These are all things on earth that never say enough.

There are four ways that are wonderful upon the earth.
The eagle in the air that glides upon the wind,
That soars and sees for miles and miles and lands high atop the mountains.
A serpent glides between the rocks with ease and grace and speed.
It cannot fly but reaches high,
Atop the mountain’s peek.

75
JoAnn Schehr Fashina

A sailboat floats upon the sea,

It glides upon the water and the wind.
With helm and crew it rocks upon the waves and travels near or far.
The way of a man with a maid is a special kind of love.
As he pursues and woos her and finds a loving wife in her,
He has found a very good thing.

There are four things which the earth is disquieted with;

When a servant rules and rulers sit down,
When the foolish have plenty to eat,
When a harsh and contentious woman is married,
And when a handmaid is heir to her mistress.

There are four things which are comely upon the earth:
The lion that is strong and fearless,
The greyhound that is fast and sleek,
The he goat that is agile upon the rocks,
And the king against whom there is no rising up.
These are four things which are beautiful to know of.

Four creatures small but wise,

Four Things never satisfied,

Who Is The Virtuous Woman?

(Paraphrased from Proverbs 31)
10/18/13

Who is a virtuous woman?

She is like king Lemuel’s mother who gave him sound advice.
She is a person one can trust.
The heart of her husband safely trusts in her.

She is a person who works willingly with her hands.

She seeks out materials she can use and creates the best things anyone can use.
Available, she meets the needs of her household,
Preparing food for her family and to those who are in need.

She invests wisely and makes sure her merchandise is of the finest quality.
She will work way into the night if necessary to complete her goals.
She wisely prepares for the cold, making sure her household has warm clothes
And beautiful tapestry for the winter.

She is adorned with strength and honor and can rejoice in times to come,
For with wisdom she has the joy of the Lord.
She is kind in words and deeds.
And opens her mouth with truth and wisdom.

She looks well to the ways of her household.

Her family and friends can rely on her.
Her children trust in her and know she is blessed.
Her husband depends on her and knows she is blessed
Her friends and acquaintances respect and honor her and her husband,
For they see her and her marriage as blessed.

Let her works praise her for she fears the Lord!

brings their own interpretation to the truth, but there are facts of life that
cannot be denied. In this book of poetry, it is brought to the attention of the
reader common issues we all must face, such as life and death, good and evil
and many other topics. Reality in the Spiritual Realm consists of inspirational

Expressions of Definitions Redefined Book 1

It is never very beneficial to just go through the motions of reading the Bible
daily without searching for understanding, but when we search for
understanding and ways to apply what we read, God opens up the spiritual
realm into our hearts as we read with a positive mind in faith. We must examine
ourselves each day as we read and look for ways to gain the most positive
results from our personal study. In this book the author's goal is to help you to
accomplish this if you never have before and to support you if you already have
a solid habit of studying the Bible.
