The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) will award up to 20 scholarships to graduate students from around the world to study at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The two-year IRENA-MIST scholarships will provide students the opportunity to conduct renewable energy research and contribute to IRENA's mission of promoting renewable energy adoption. Interested students must first apply for regular admission to MIST and then separately apply for the IRENA scholarship by June 15, 2010 by submitting their application ID and CV to IRENA.

IRENA is awarding 20 IRENA Scholarships at

MASDAR Institute of Science and Technology



Commencing in 2010, the International Renewable Energy Agency, IRENA, will award
up to 20 Scholarships to MASDAR Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) to highly
qualified graduate students from around the world within the range of academic
programmes offered by MIST.

Of two years duration, the IRENA-MIST Scholarships provide the chosen students with
the opportunity to work on research projects in the field of renewable energy, and
contribute to the implementation of the Agencys mandate.

About IRENA
IRENA was founded in J anuary 2009 to promote the widespread and increased
adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy worldwide. With its
headquarter in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and more than 144 Members, IRENA
aims to become the leading international centre of excellence for renewable energy and
a platform for exchange and development of renewable energy knowledge.

About MASDAR Institute
The MASDAR Institute is a private, not-for-profit, independent, research-driven institute
developed with the support and cooperation of the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT). The Institute offers Masters in science and engineering disciplines,
with a focus on advanced energy and sustainable technologies. The Institute aims to
become a world-class institute offering cutting-edge research and high caliber graduate
education.The intent is to have the structure of its top administration similar to the MIT.






The IRENA-MIST Scholarships
Those students enrolled in the Master of Science (MSc) program with an IRENA-MIST
Scholarship will write their final thesis on a topic relevant to renewable energies. They
will divide their time between classes at MIST and research. Students will profit from the
interaction with IRENA experts and the possibility to network in an environment that is
dedicated 100% to renewable energies.

The IRENA-MIST Scholarships cover students housing, insurance, travel, laptop,
textbooks, and a monthly stipend. IRENA will select students for the IRENA-MIST
scholarship annually.

Students who are selected for the IRENA scholarship are MIST Students and must
adhere to the policies and procedures of the MIST.

As IRENA is implementing gender parity, we especially encourage suitably qualified
female students to apply. Selected students will commence their lectures by end of
August, 2010.

How to apply and further information
Interested students need to apply at MIST for a regular scholarship. After completion of
the application, the applicant will be provided with an Applicant ID. To apply for an
IRENA-MIST Scholarship the applicant needs to send the Applicant ID together with a
CV to [email protected].
