Recruitment of Consultant Positions for Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP)

under National Rural health Mission (NRHM)

The Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, (IDSP), launched by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW),
Government of India, in November 2004, is a decentralized, State based Surveillance Program intended to detect early warning
signals of impending outbreaks and help initiate an effective and timely response. For staffing its 766 technical consultants at
District and State positions, IDSP conducted a recruitment process in Nov.- Dec. 2008.The present advertisement is to fill the
vacancies which remained unfilled in the process. Applications from eligible candidates are being invited for these vacancies as
detailed below, by the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) New Delhi, (A Technical Support Organization of the
Ministry of Health and family Welfare (MOH&FW), Government of India), on behalf of IDSP. We note that most vacancies are in
districts further away from state capitals.

*Exact salary amount, within the range mentioned above, is negotiable and will be decided based on experience and

The no. of vacancies is likely to vary. Number and list of vacancies would be available at the time of interview.

General terms and conditions -

1. Maximum age Limit for all posts is 45 years, (in exceptional cases age up-to 60 years may be considered).
2. Appointment letters and contracts for all positions will be issued by State Health Societies under NRHM, of respective
states, and the recruitment will be on contract basis for the present project period till March 2010 (a proposal for extension
of project is under process).
3. Eligible candidates short-listed on the basis of educational and experience criteria will be called for interview. The
interview may include a skill based test related to the work area of the position.
4. No TA/DA will be given for attending the interview fo r any position.
5. At the time of interview, candidates would have to write their preference for 3 most preferred locations of available states /
district HQs. However preference of location will not be an entitlement and candidates will have to be prepared to be
posted to any of these presently vacant locations , or any other IDSP vacancy for the above mentioned positions. If
preference is not stated, it is assumed that they are willing to be posted anywhere in India.

11. List of the short listed candidates, being invited for the selection process / interview will be displayed on the above

12. There is a proposal to support some of the selected candidates to undergo an in-service training cum distance learning
program leading to a Post Graduate Diploma in Epidemiology. Conditions apply.
