Youth Sports Development Initiatives Given S$15m Boost, 14 Apr 2009, Sunday Times

The Singapore Youth Sports Development committee announced $15 million in funding to support youth sports initiatives ahead of the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. $5 million will go towards training athletes like Darren Choy, a 15-year-old national sailor, and $10 million will develop a national talent framework in schools. However, only 6 of 26 national sports associations have submitted plans for using the funds for the Youth Olympic Games. The extra funding is aimed at increasing youth participation in sports and identifying and developing more sporting talent in Singapore.
