Teacher's Guide 2014 With Anwers (Akan Upload Portal JPN Pada 20.5.2014)

This document provides guidance for a mathematics project involving arithmetic and geometric progressions. It outlines 4 assignments that explore properties of progressions through graphing, calculations, and conjectures. Assignment 1 involves finding the 16th term of an arithmetic progression and comparing total payments. Assignment 2 compares monthly salaries in an arithmetic vs geometric progression. Assignment 3 verifies conjectures about yearly salary increments forming an arithmetic progression through graphing. Assignment 4 explores the Fibonacci sequence, the golden ratio, and constructing rectangles with sides in the golden ratio.

Comparing values of Tn and Sn for GP to justify.

Assignment No. 3
(a)

Example of conjecture : Yearly salary increments form an AP

Draw a suitable straight line graph to verify the conjecture.
n
[1. Convert Sn = 2a (n 1)d or Tn = a + (n -1)d to linear form.
2
2. Plot a graph of Sn /n against (n-1)
or graph of Tn against (n-1) if the students use total yearly pay]
3. A straight line graph verify the conjecture.]
Mention starting pay and how yearly salary increment varies
Answer: Starting pay = RM 700, Yearly increment = RM 80

Example of conjecture : Monthly salary increments form a GP

Draw a suitable straight line graph to verify the conjecture.
Convert Tn = arn-1 to linear form, plot a graph of log 10Tn against (n-1) to verify the
conjecture.
Mention starting pay and how monthly salary increment varies
Answer: Starting pay = RM 800 ,thereafter, the monthly salary for a particular month is
12% more than the monthly salary for the preceding month
