Walking with Ignatius - The Ignatian Camino
In September 2015, a group of pilgrims will walk the pilgrim route taken by St
Ignatius of Loyola in 1522 from his home (Loyola) in Spains Basque country to
Montserrat and Manresa. Pilgrims will be on a month long outer journey and an inner
journey. The outer journey will be well marked. The inner journey less so. The route
travels through picturesque mountains, deserts and plains, before ending in the town
of Manresa near Barcelona. Manresa was a place of profound spiritual enlightenment
for him. Here he composed his spiritual masterpiece, the Spiritual Exercises.
The guide, Fr Jose Luis Iriberri sj, who designed the route will be in Warrnambool
(St Josephs) Monday, 23rd February at 7.30pm. He will speak about the pilgrimage.
Deaths: Tony Shanahan, Joan Cashill, Johnny Consedine (Dublin & New York),
