Good Things Grow Here

Tattybogle
Thank you for supporting our Reception, Year 1 and 2 children in
the musical Tattybogle. We were extremely proud of all the
children. Musicals at Mill View are a real strength in our curriculum
and we are thrilled to see so many budding singers, dancers and
performers. Thank you to all the staff for their dedication and
commitment to ensuring our children get the very best
opportunities.
Franklins Star
During the two performances there was a collection for the charity
Franklins Star, in memory of Danny Jones father of Holly in Y6.
The money donated was 350 - thank you for your kind
donations.
Promoting British Values
Schools are now asked to use opportunities such as general or local elections
to hold mock elections to promote fundamental British values and provide
pupils with the opportunity to learn how to argue and defend points of view.
In response to this, the pupils in Years 4 and 5 have been learning about how
democracy works and some of the practicalities of a general election. Mrs
Noble showed the children a film explaining the process which you can find by
following this link:http://www.parliament.uk/education/teachingresources-lesson-plans/the-general-election-explained/8-minutes/
The pupils then looked at a selection of policies from five political parties on a
range of issues: health, education, childcare, law and order, and jobs and
discussed whether or not they agreed or disagreed with them and why. After
all the debating, both classes held a secret ballot. The votes were counted by
tellers and the results reported by the returning officers. Year 4 voted in a
Conservative majority whilst Year 5 proved to be much more left-wing, voting
in a Labour landslide! It will be interesting to see how the rest of the country
votes on Thursday.

Gymnastics
Ten children in Key Stage 2 were selected to represent Mill View last week in a
local gymnastics competition. The children were all beginners and had to perform a sequence
of movements and a vault. The children had never participated in a competition before and
they all performed exceptionally well. Our Year 3/4 team placed 3rd and our upper Key Stage
2 team placed 2nd. We also won a certificate for the Sporting Value of Honesty. The children
were great representatives for our school. Please check the Sporting Community blog for
photos and videos of the children performing.
Sports Day and National Sports Week (week commencing Monday 22 June)
Mrs Burt Williams and Miss Pemberton are busy planning exciting sporting events for National Sports Week and
we will keep you informed of these events in our newsletters. To coincide with National Sports Week our Sports
Day will be on Tuesday 23 June and the PTA Summer Fun Run will take place on Friday 26 June 4pm.
A note from our local governing body
Now that we have completed our first term since converting to an Academy we would like to thank everyone
who consulted with us during the consultation period in the Autumn Term. We are happy to report that the
conversion process has happened very smoothly.
The collaboration we envisioned between Mill View and the other two schools in the Multi Academy Trust,
Boughton Heath and Kelsall Primaries, has started to happen. The sharing of best practice and ways of working
will benefit all our children by constantly improving our standards and thus the outcomes for our children.
Mill View's Governing body meets at least four times a term, with Curriculum & Policy, Finance & Staffing, Health
& Safety committee meetings, as well as a Full Governing Body meeting. The Governors look at school strategy
and progress, check key performance indicators agreed and if necessary challenge the running of the school to
ensure positive outcomes. We also make decisions on how school income is prioritised and spent.
All Governors give their time freely for the continued benefit of the school and are unpaid for these duties.
Parent Governor Nomination
There was one nomination for the vacancy of Parent Governor received on Friday 01 May and therefore there is
no need for a ballot to be held.
The governing body received a nomination for Mrs Joanne Wraige whose four year office will commence at the
next full governing body. Mrs Wraige has a daughter in Year 1 and she has skills, knowledge and expertise in
Safeguarding / Welfare. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Wraige onto the local governing body.
Thank you
for supporting one of our pupils mark National Autism Awareness Week. Through making
and selling pink and purple loom bands (the colours of the National Autistic Society) and
cakes 50 was raised for the National Autistic Society and 50 for Wirral Autistic Society.
Did You Know?
Providing extra curricular activities are not part of teachers and teaching staff contractual duties. We are very
fortunate at Mill View that our teachers and support staff provide such a wide range of extra curricular activities
each term. Thank you!
