Year 4 Curriculum Newsletter Autumn 2015
Welcome back to the new school term and your first term in Year 4! We have an exciting time planned this Autumn, much of which is based around our Context for Learning entitled
How has Chester changed? . The information on this sheet will give you a brief overview of some of the activities we will be doing this term across the curriculum. Please feel free to contact me if you have
any questions or can offer any help;

Much of our Literacy work will be linked to our CfL about Chester. We have already begun with a recount from our Summer
holidays.
We will look at a local Chester author,
Evelyn Winters who has written a book
entitled The Little Big Clockmaker about the Eastgate Clock
giving its creator magical powers. We will then write our own
story based on this.
We will also write a non-chronological report about Chester,
including facts about its location, history, culture and sporting
success.
We will also revise different sentence types to help improve our
writing from Years 2 and 3, and introduce a couple of Year 4
ones.
As part of our Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (G.P.S.)
scheme we will look at adverbs of cause and time
and prepositions.
