3Dadvanceddesigntechniquesareusedtoimprovetheperformanceandreducetheshockwave
lossintheinitialstagesandfrictionallossintheintermediateandfinalstages.Inadditionto
variableinletguidevanesusedtomodulateairflow,theJseriesgasturbineisequippedwiththree
variablevanesatthefrontstagesofthecompressor.Thefourstagesoperatetogethertomodulate
thegasturbineairflowinordertomaintainrelativelyhighexhausttemperatures(atpartload)for
improvedbottomingcycleefficiency.
Combustor
TheJseriescombustorwasbasedontheprovensteamcoolingsystemusedinGseriesgas
turbines.Theturbineinlettemperatureof1,600Cis100ChigherthantheGseries,Wearealso
abletomaintainemissionstoequivalentlevelsasthatoftheGseries.Thisisaccomplished
throughtheuseoflowNOxtechnologiesincludingoptimizationofthelocalflametemperatureinthe
