SUMMARY

I’m a creative and copywriter with 10 years experience crafting online

campaigns, launching well-known websites and working through-the-line. I've
written award-winning campaigns for Levi's, Sega and British Airways. I love
engaging work that does something new. My interactive experience is broad,
taking in games and content channels as well as ads. I took a few years out to
study and returned to digital media in 2008. I’ve recently worked for Steel,
Blueview and Candi.

SKILLS

• Writing conceptual campaign and long-form copy

• Creative direction and strategy for digital, direct and ATL
• Creating games, toys and animation for the web and TV
• Leading technology-intensive projects across platforms
• Managing creative and technical teams

WORK HISTORY

2008 - 2010: Freelance Copywriter

I’ve recently created campaigns and websites for a range of clients including
Talk Talk, Sony, Debenhams and Morrisons. Filling in for the Creative Director
at Steel I led major ATL brand campaigns for SeaFrance and Greggs. I’ve
also worked on various direct marketing campaigns and am familiar with SEO.
I write features for the Guardian on technology and the environment.

2004 - 2007: Student and Adventurer

I took a set of distance learning courses with Berkeley and Stanford in
Psychology and Earth System Science. I also travelled, wrote a screenplay
and made a short film with money from Working Title films.

2002 – 2003: Copywriter, Spring London (Leo Burnett)

I created a variety of interactive TV promos and branded games for clients
including MTV, Travis, So Solid Crew and Jodie Lee (Independiente
Records). I also developed a number of branded interactive TV formats in
genres such as music and cooking.

2000 - 2001: Head of Content, PlayJam

I built the website then became involved in rebranding PlayJam on Sky and
cable TV as a laddish games channel. I wrote channel and promo copy. I
championed redesigns for many games, introducing new titles and characters.
I commissioned cartoons for the website. I led the channel design and launch
for cable TV. PlayJam was subsequently sold to OpenTV and is still one of
the most popular TV game channels in the UK, US and France.
1999 – 2000: Copywriter, Lateral
Conceptual copywriter creating sites and ads for key clients including Levi’s,
Mars, Nationwide, Boddingtons, Sega, EMI and Pathe. My campaign for
Levi’s Engineered Jeans won awards for it’s creative use of Yahoo’s Error:
404 pages. Our Levi’s Twisted site won multiple creative awards and
established Levi’s as a major online brand presence. I also led the build of two
ecommerce sites while at the company.

1999: Copywriter, Hard Reality (Leo Burnett)

I did some work for Nesquik and Kellogg’s but my main focus was on
branding and site copy for a new toll-free ISP called Freedom Net, which
unfortunately never launched.

1998: Creative Lead, Agency.com

Working in a team with the Creative Director we created one of the first
interactive TV ads. The British Airways ‘Escape’ spot won a One Show
Interactive award. I was creative lead on sites and ads for Sanpro and
Prudential.

1997 - 1998: Online Development Manager, Virgin Interactive

As part of the rebranding of this top 10 games publisher I created a new, sexy
and accessible pan-European site and ads to support it. I was also
responsible for the online gaming strategy in Europe.

1996 - 1997: Launch Producer, Virgin Net

Heading up the Games and Education channels for the launch of the
consumer-friendly ISP, I defined the style, structure and coordinated with
content partners. I also helped produce the Health channel.

1994 - 1996: Journalist, the Guardian & GQ

I was a staff writer at the Guardian aged 19. I was then a Contributing Editor
