ENGR 244 Final Lab (Final)

This document is a lab report for an experiment on the buckling behavior of columns under axial load. The objective was to determine the critical buckling load and factors affecting it for different column specimens. Tests were conducted on solid and hollow aluminum tubes of varying lengths under different end support conditions. The results showed that hollow columns had a higher critical stress than solid columns. Shorter columns and those with both ends fixed also had higher critical stresses than longer or pinned columns. The theoretical critical loads calculated from Euler's formula matched reasonably well with experimental values for pinned-pinned end conditions.
