Estimation Guidelines for TIBCO components
Since TIBCO is a new technology project, first of its kind in TCS, we do not have a standard
estimation guidelines. The estimation required for TIBCO components was arrived in conjunction
with the onsite team.
The estimates for the TIBCO Components that will be used during the project life cycle are as
follows:
Setting Up Repository Instance
Involves creating either a file base repository or a database repository. File base repository will be
considered as simple and effort required will be 1 PD. Database repository will be considered as
complex and will require an effort of 2 PD.
TIB Business Works
1. If there is one Message diagram, two process diagram (two to three script task, one to two
DB task, two channels, error handling and includes your email process), one class diagram will be considered as simple and effort required will be 5pd.
2. If there is one message diagram, two process diagram (5-7 script task, 5 to 10 DB task, 4 to 5
channels, error handling task that includes your email process), one class diagram - will be
considered as average and effort required will be 5-10pd.
3. If there is one message diagram, two (or more but less than 5) process diagram (10-15 script
task, 5 to 10 DB task, includes custom task, more than 5 channels, error task including email
process), one class diagram - will be considered as complex and effort required will be1015pd
4. If there is one message diagram, 5-6 process diagram, 1-2 class diagram will be considered
as very complex and effort required will be 15-20pd.
TIB Message Broker
1. If there is one Pub plugin, one sub plugin, one mapper, one parser, one renderer and 1-3
functions take it as simple 5 pd
2. Adding to simple in (1), if there is 1 more sinks (database writer, file writer), 1 more sources
(file reader, DB reader) 2-3 more functions- take it as average. 5-10 pd.
3. Adding to simple in (1), if there is 1-2 more sinks, 1-2 more sources,5-6 more functions - take
it as complex 10-15pd
TIB Hawk
1. Simple - Writing 1 rulebase that involves 1 rule and schedule. Effort 1-2 pdays.
2. Average - Writing 2 rulebases that involves 3 rules and 3 schedules. Effort 1-2 pdays.
3. Complex - Writing more than 2 rulebases. Effort 3- 5 pdays.

Migration from Tib IM/ MB to BW
1. A simple MB/ IM process as defined above will take 0.5 PD for migration
2. A average MB/ IM process as defined above will take 1 PD for migration
3. A complex MB/ Im process as defined above will take 1.5 PD for migration
