Kind of Ship & Part of Ship


TYPE OF VESSEL
Understanding the vessel can be defined as "a ship is a floating vessel the which is
self-propelled's capable of carrying cargo or passenger" (The Marine encyclopaedic
Dictionary by Eric Sullivan) where we can take the notion that the ship is
transportation floating in the water that can move / move themselves from one place
to another and capable of transporting or moving cargo / freight or passengers.
In planning a determination of the ship type or types of ships is the most important
thing, because the ships to be built can be designed according to specific criteria both
in terms of construction, stability, type of content, and in terms of its economy.
Type or types of boats can be seen from the function and purpose, type of cargo, sail
area, the type of power penggeraknnya and type of building it.
In general classification of the ship can be divided into

The development objective indusri ship itself is to give services to users everywhere

2. The cruise ship (cruise ship)
is a passenger ship which is used for cruise excursion. Passengers boarding a
cruise to enjoy the time spent on the boat equipped lodging facilities and
amenities like five-star hotel. Most cruises have a shipping route that always

return to the home port of departure. Long cruise excursion can vary, ranging
from a few days to about three months did not return to the home port of
departure.

Research vessels are generally used for research and training related to the sea. As the

other countries is the goal of building warships.

Commercial vessels (comercil ship) is a purpose-built vessel in the area of
trade in goods and provision of services (passenger transport). For example,
cargo ships, passenger ships, etc.

Parts of the ship that are important are shown in the following figure, this image does

2: AFT;
3: Propeller;
4: The skin of the vessel;
5: Machinery;

7: The bow;
8: The main deck;
9: Building on (superstructure) in which is placed the bridge, cabin for the crew.
On Ro-ro ferry is equipped with a ramp door located at the bow and stern of the ship.

in general, in principle, ferries and ships inland waters with the vessels used at sea
have the same characteristics except in certain areas where the ferries are equipped
with a system of door lander (ramp door) for up and down passengers and vehicles as
well as patterns of berthing at the jetty using special dock for the ferry.
