The LORD had said to Abram, Leave your native
country, your relatives, and your fathers family,
and go to the land that I will show you. I will
make you into a great nation. I will bless you and
make you famous, and you will be a blessing to
others. I will bless those who bless you and curse
those who treat you with contempt. All the families
on earth will be blessed through you.
The LORD kept his word and
did for Sarah exactly what he
had promised.
God will provide a sheep for
the burnt offering, my son,
Abraham answered. And they
both walked on together.
15 Then
the angel of the LORD called again
to Abraham from heaven.16 This is what
the LORD says: Because you have obeyed
me and have not withheld even your son,
your only son, I swear by my own name
that 17 I will certainly bless you.
I will multiply your descendants beyond
number, like the stars in the sky and the sand
on the seashore. Your descendants will
conquer the cities of their enemies. 18 And
through your descendants all the nations of
the earth will be blessedall because you
have obeyed me.
4 The
LORD gave me this message: 5 I knew you
before I formed you in your mothers womb.
Before you were born I set you apart and
appointed you as my prophet to the nations. 6 O
Sovereign LORD, I said, I cant speak for you! Im
too young! 7 The LORD replied, Dont say, Im
too young, for you must go wherever I send you
and say whatever I tell you.
And dont be afraid of the people, for I will be
with you and will protect you. I, the LORD, have
spoken! Then the LORD reached out and
touched my mouth and said, Look, I have put
my words in your mouth! Today I appoint you
to stand up against nations and kingdoms. Some
you must uproot and tear down, destroy and
overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.
Then the LORD said to me, Look,
Jeremiah! What do you see? And I
replied, I see a branch from an almond
tree. And the LORD said, Thats right,
and it means that I am watching, and I
will certainly carry out all my plans.
a. He deposited every plans and goals He has
ordained for us.
b. He is watching every word declared and
released and will perform it.
a. Many are mans plan but Gods plan still prevails.
b. God is always the director of our life (Proverbs 20:24)
I have written to you who are Gods children
because you know the Father. I have written
to you who are mature in the faith because
you know Christ, who existed from the
beginning. I have written to you who are
young in the faith because you are strong.
Gods word lives in your hearts, and you have
won your battle with the evil one.
a. Obedience is to do with agreement
b. Obedience is better than sacrifice
c. Submission is willingness to obey even if you disagree
20 But
I did obey the LORD, Saul insisted.
I carried out the mission he gave me. I
brought back King Agag, but I destroyed
everyone else. 21 Then my troops brought
in the best of the sheep, goats, cattle, and
plunder to sacrifice to the LORD your God
in Gilgal.
22 But
Samuel replied, What is more pleasing to
the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or
your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is
better than sacrifice, and submission is better than
offering the fat of rams. 23 Rebellion is as sinful as
witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping
idols. So because you have rejected the command
of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.
a. Gods Word gives life and light to everyone. (John

b. Gods word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto
our path. (Psalm 119:105)
c. He has the Spirit of Excellence
1 In
the beginning the Word already existed. The
Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He
existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created
everything through him, and nothing was created
except through him. 4 The Word gave life to
everything that was created, and his life brought
light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the
darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
Your word is a lamp to
guide my feet
and a light for my path.
a. God is a builder not a magician.
He sees to it that every detail of His plan be carried out.
He builds it with Wisdom
b. There is always a waiting time to finish a beautiful building.
So wait upon the Lord.
Anyone who listens to my teaching and
follows it is wise, like a person who builds a
house on solid rock. Though the rain
comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise
and the winds beat against that house, it
wont collapse because it is built on bedrock.
But anyone who hears my teaching
and doesnt obey it is foolish, like a
person who builds a house on
sand. When the rains and floods come
and the winds beat against that house, it
will collapse with a mighty crash.
James 1:22
But dont just listen to Gods word. You must
do what it says. Otherwise, you are only
fooling yourselves.
James 4:17
Remember, it is sin to know what you
ought to do and then not do it.
1 John 2:5
But those who obey Gods word truly show how
completely they love him. That is how we know
we are living in him.
Luke 10:27
The man answered, You must love the Lord your
God with all your heart, all your soul, all your
strength, and all your mind. And, Love your
neighbor as yourself.
The Lord directs our steps, so
why try to understand
everything along the way?
