Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements
In order to enter the baccalaureates program at UNLV, NSC, or UNR and
now WGU Nevada, you must complete the Praxis Core in Nevada for Math, Reading,
and Writing. This test is also required for a teaching license by the State of Nevada
Education Department. The passing scores in Nevada are as follows:

Math 150
Reading 156
Writing 162

Exam Preparation
I found little information regarding the Praxis prior to this class, online or
elsewhere. And what I found on ETS was brief, to say the least, compared to what you
needed to know just for the practice test. I used the ETS study guide and that was it to
study. It was not very much practice and not as extensive as the practice tests on
Teachers Test Prep. I really appreciated this assignment; as this practice test really gave
me insight to what to expect on the actual Praxis.
Exam Results
I scored this on the Praxis Practice Tests:
58% on writing

64% on the reading

60% on the math section.
My final score: 1- need improvement

Future Exam Preparation

I am now preparing to take the official Praxis Core exam after recently switching
my major to Special Education last year. I have a Praxis Study Book for middle school
that I plan use to help me study, along with my Special Education book from the college.
I do plan to also take advantage of the Praxis review courses at CSN; as it has been
several years since I have taken Math and English classes. Also, I do plan on setting time
a lot of time to study for this test as I will need it. In addition, I will consider using a tutor
for the more advanced math sections.
