Non Isotropic But Similar Point Sources and The Principle of Pattern Multiplication

Two point sources are considered: identical point sources with equal amplitude and phase difference, and similar point sources with unequal maximum amplitudes and any phase difference. For identical sources, the field pattern is the product of the individual source pattern and an array pattern. For similar sources, the field pattern depends on the relative amplitude and includes an additional term accounting for the amplitude difference. In both cases, the overall pattern can be obtained by multiplying the pattern of individual sources by the pattern of an array.

Non Isotropic but similar Point Sources and the Principle of Pattern Multiplication:

Similar: - The variation with absolute angle of both amplitude and phase of the field is the
same. The maximum amplitude of the individual source may be unequal.
Identical: If maximum amplitudes of individual sources are also equal the sources are identical.
Consider the case of two isotropic point sources of equal amplitude and any phase difference and

let sources are identical and the field pattern all

In both the case, the result is obtained by multiplying the pattern of the individual source by the
pattern an array of isotropic point sources.
