Therapeutic Dream
Catchers:
Materials Needed:
Cardstock (or any thick paper)
Pencil (or any writing utensil)
Crayons (or any coloring tools)
Hole Puncher (or something to poke a hole with)
Yarn (or any kind of thick-enough-to-notice string/ribbon)

Step 1) Print each student a Dream Catcher worksheet (the activity works best if
printed on cardstock or any thick paper). You can also print each student a
directions sheet.
Step 2) Have student(s) decorate their dream catcher(s) with the coloring tools.
Step 3) Have student(s) think of their negative emotions, triggers, or experiences.
Discuss them together.
Step 4) Have student(s) trap those negative thoughts/triggers/emotions inside of
the dream catcher(s) by writing them inside the circle.
Step 5) Have student(s) write their strengths, positive traits, activities, and other
things/people they love all around the dream catcher(s).
Step 6) Once the dream catcher is complete, have students weave (or tape/glue)
yarn through the points around the circle to trap in the negative things.

Step 2)Think of and discuss your negative emotions, triggers, or
experiences.
Step 3)Trap those negative thoughts/triggers/emotions inside of
your dream catcher by writing them inside the circle.
Step 4)Write your strengths, positive traits, activities, and other
things or people you love all around your dream catcher.
Step 5)Once your dream catcher is complete, weave yarn through
the points around the circle to trap in the negative things.

Step 6)Show off your hard work!
