INTRODUCTION
Educational tour or field trips are learning experiences
outside the classroom. These trips supplement classroom
learning by providing students with an opportunity to see
the actual places, artifacts, flora, fauna or phenomenon
that are described in textbooks and lectures. They also
enrich the students experiences by exposing them to the
situations that are new to them. Educational tours may
also be undertaken by family groups, whether home
schooling or not. At the vocational and college level,
highly specialized field trips may be undertaken in order
for students to gain firsthand knowledge major. The tour
should be organized keeping in view the point of interest
the student so as to make it more effective and
knowledgeable gain to the students. Likewise, a tour was
organized by our college that is further mention and
follows up in my report.
More about my college

memory of Maharishi Dayanand Sarswati to impart
modern knowledge along with the Vedic traditions to the
youth of contemporary. The institution has grown into the
academic giant in the last 94 years of its matchless
service.
It has several departments in which biotechnology
department is one of the utmost departments. It is headed
by Dr. Renuka Malhotra (MSc., PhD in Biochemistry,
GNDU) our department has excel in academic and
various and other co curricular activity under the guidance
of scholastic and vigilant teachers. It also organized
various conferences and other seminar by the guest
lecturers of various repudiated institutions. In which the
educational tour was one of the activity to innovate and
enhance in our study more effectively and easy.
The pleasant morning of 16 April
under the cold breeze of the onset of cloudy day we set
our journey at the morning. The total 17 students of final
year Biotechnology department, DAV College Jalandhar
on the pleasant day of went to the premier campus of
National Institute of Technology (NIT) which was
organized by the college under the guidance of our
respected mentors namely Dr. Sanjay Sharma (MSc., M
Phil, PhD in Plant Tissue Culture, PU) and Dr. Sumiti
Kalia (MSc., PhD in Biophysics, PU). It was rainy day
which also added fun to our pleasant journey and could
not stop us from the interest fever arouse at us all time.
More about National Institute
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology was
established in 1987 as a regional Engineering college and
was given the status of National Institute of Technology
by the government of India on October 17, 2002. This
Institute offers mostly Engineering courses but also has a
department of Biotechnology which offers courses of
bachelor of technology in biotechnology. Government of
India declared the institute as Institute of National
Importance under the act of Parliament -2007.
This was some of the briefly mentioned more about the
institute.
We were happy to reach the premier and our
first stop to the institute was the Department of
Biotechnology.
Department of Biotechnology (NIT)
We were guided by our honorable guide regarding the
HPLC (High Pressure Liquid Chromatography) and its
various applications in our practicals related to
differentiate between various biomolecules etc.
A picture of a tool that is used in the High Pressure Liquid
Chromatography
We were shown the Bioreactor. They were working on
some kind of fermentation of wheat straws. They
explained us all the conditions of the project they were
working on.
We were very well guided by our guide. They explained
us very well.
Now we were heading towards next lab for getting
more knowledge about the tools that are used in
biotechnology practicals.
A tool that shows different peaks of biomolecules by
using that peaks we can differentiate between different
biomolecules.
Some of the tools were demonstrated to us were like.

A spectrometer..
Our guide explains us about this one of the important
instrument that is daily used in the labs by the
researchers..
We really had a great time at the department of
biotechnology of NIT and it was time for us to leave the
faculty and sir gave us his warm wishes for our future and
hoped us to come there again
To sum up, we had a great day along with great profound
scholars and researchers and to become like them for me
is a dream that is not even evitable. After that we had our
lunch and headed back to our college with the mini disco
inside our bus.
Thanks to our college principal Dr. Sharma,
Dr. Renuka (HOD) dpt. Biotechnology, Dr. Sanjay
Sharma, Dr. Sumiti Kalia, Lecturer Mandeep Kaur and
other vices who directly and indirectly were involve in
the success and amusing tour made us and ask them to
organize such trips that would enhance the knowledge of
the student and entitled the expansion of
studies THANK YOU ALL
