Having 3 Main Sub System Sub System Are Known As RSS, NSS & OSS
GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) is a digital mobile telephone system that was originally developed to provide a common pan-European mobile telephone system. It has three main subsystems: the radio subsystem (RSS), the network and switching subsystem (NSS), and the operations support subsystem (OSS). GSM provides voice and data services to over 100 million users across 130 countries and allows for roaming across networks in Europe. It has been upgraded over time to support additional data services and higher bandwidths compared to earlier analog systems.

Entire GSM used inEurope 890-915 MHZ range for
uplinks(sbscriber to base station) and 935-960 MHZ range for downlinks(Base station to subscriber links) Latest version of GSM 1800 or DCS 1800 and PCS 1900
DCS 1800 -ublink 1710 to 1785 Mhz, downlink 1805 to 1880
Original use of GSM has been voice communication but
it is expected that data will also be communicated using GSM
GSM Services
GSM allows integration of voice and data services
GSM specifies 3 type of services
Bearer Teleservices Supplementary services
MS (mobile station ) connected to GSM Public land
mobile network(PLMN) MS is connected to GSM PLMN through the Um interface PLMN is the required infrastructure for GSM to get connected to other network PSTN & ISDN TE(terminal Equipment) that need to communicate with MS will be connected to PSTN or ISDN through another network known as source/destination network
