LESSON PLAN
Topic:
Plane Shapes
Grades :
1 2nd period
Lesson Length:
70 minutes
Standard of Competence:
Knowing simple plane shapes
Base of Competence:
Identify triangles, quadrilateral, and circles
Objectives:
Students will:
- develop deeper understanding of shape especially triangle, quadrilateral, circle
- identify objects around class that similar with triangle, quadrilateral, or circle
- review names of the names of plane shapes
- being creative and make picture or form from one or more plane shapes.
Grouping Instruction:
Student will do the activities prepared in the worksheet.
• Worksheet 1 student work in group of 4
• Worksheet 2 student do individually
• Worksheet 3 students work in pair
Students play with virtual manipulatives on the group of 4
Students play with domino card on the group of 4
Overview of Lesson:
Students learn to know about basic planes shapes: triangle, quadrilateral, and circle. They will
identify which one is triangle, quadrilateral, or circle. Students will construct their own
knowledge about triangle, quadrilateral, and circle by doing activity. At the end of lesson student
make picture of form from one or more plane shapes to improve their creativity.
Material and Equipment:
- Worksheets 1, 2, 3
- Triangles with many color
- Quadrilaterals with many color
- Circles with many color
- Domino Card
- Song
- Virtual manipulative

and outside the class find, see and
remember how many shapes can be
found. (photo, writing...)
Back to class Facilitate a discussion

Worksheet
5’ Name of We see these different shapes
shape everyday, and it is very important
for us to recognize these shapes. We
will be counting the sides and
corners of each shape. By doing this,
we will be able to identify the shape
name
Ask the students if they know any
names of shapes.
Today we will be learning about 3
basic shapes- circles, triangles, and
quadrilateral.
3’ Circle ? Can anyone give me an idea about
circle?
Hang the big circle
Circles can roll on the chalkboard
Circles are round.
Circles do not have straight edges
or corners
? Can anyone give me an example of
a circle object in your house? What
about in our classroom?
? Can you find the circle in your
box?
Time Learning Activity Teaching aids Note
3’ Quadrilateral Next, we will learn about Put the big
quadrilateral. quadrilateral on
the chalkboard
? Can anyone give me an idea about
quadrilateral?
Quadrilateral cannot roll.
Quadrilateral has 4 sides
Quadrilateral has 4 corner
? Can you find the Quadrilateral in
your box?
3’ Triangle Next, we will learn about triangles. Put the big triangle
on the board, point
? What are different between to this shape
Triangle and Quadrilateral?
Triangles have three sides. Two
sides of a triangle come together to
form corners also.
How many corners does a triangle
have? Can anyone think of some
triangles we see in everyday life?
5’ Game: Teacher show the slide. Virtual Identify
manipulative shapes
Is it the... If that picture is ... Students say YES (Powerpoint game)
and holds the shape up high in the
air.
If that picture is not ... Students say
Huuuu!!!!!!
5’ Make Activity 1: 5 red Triangle Show the
group by 5 yellow Triangle position of
music Student makes the circle around of 5 blue Triangle group.

Here I am, Here I am,
How are you to day sir, very well I
thank you
Run away, run away!
Student, who’s have the shape on the
song, step forward and holds the
shape up high in the air.
Developing skill
5’ Identify Activity 2 Worksheet 2 Individual
triangle,
quadrilater • Students identify triangle,
al, and quadrilateral, and circle from
circle a group of shapes
• Student use crayon/marker
color the picture. Same color
to same form of shape
10’ matching Activity 3 Domino card Group
shape
Playing domino card: Find matching
shape in the picture.
Demonstrating and recreational mathematics
10’ be creative Activity 4 Worksheet 3 in pair
with shape Scissor
Students make picture or for by one glue
or more shapes (triangle,
quadrilateral, or circle)

Assessments:
1. Authentic assessment: students applying their understanding and use their knowledge,
skill to do task related to real life.
2. Performance assessment: students demonstrate their understanding and use their
knowledge, skill that they have to do the activity given.
