NI Digital Communication Lab


The NI Digital Communication Lab comprising of the NI ELVIS Telecommunications Add-
on Boards extends NI ELVIS, NI ELVIS II, and NI ELVIS II+ with hardware and lab exercises
to teach concepts related to digital communications. It employs an effective, modular, and
hands-on approach in which students can rapidly build baseband communication circuits
with fiber optic links by working with wire-based patch cables.

The NI Digital Communication Stand features a block diagram approach using which
students can build and measure communication systems that correspond to those
commonly found in textbooks. Working from block diagrams, students can create
communication circuits by wiring together system components with plug-in patch cables.

A comprehensive lab manual is also included with experiments that feature background
information and step-by-step instructions. After building a circuit with either module,
students can apply the signal generation and measurement capability of NI LabVIEW and
NI ELVIS platform to explore the system.
