NOTICE TO AUDITIONEES FROM SLAMS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Introduction
Welcome to your audition with SLAMS. If you have been involved with SLAMS before its great to see you
again. If you are a newcomer a very warm welcome. We are sure you will find your experience with SLAMS
both enjoyable and rewarding.
SLAMS background
SLAMS is an amateur theatre company. We perform at a professional theatre and hire professional technicians.
Consequently SLAMS relies solely on box-office sales to fund the staging of our productions.
The Partnership between you and SLAMS
SLAMS has been founded on a family philosophy. We care about our participants and patrons. A successful
production evolves from strong teamwork. You are encouraged to express any concerns regarding your
involvement in the production to the Director. They will be given due consideration. Our aim is to provide you
with the opportunity to perform, to entertain, to have fun and to make new friends. In return we expect your
dedication and commitment to the success of the show.
** Please note: Any auditionee who has current or upcoming commitments to another show or company MUST
detail these commitments on the accompanying form before the audition. SLAMS does not encourage
performers to make multiple commitments, and the management committee reserves the right to require any
cast member to step out of the production if it is considered by the directors that the cast members other
commitments are interfering with their commitment to SLAMS.
Cast responsibilities
Cast members are required to pay a fee of $85, which is a contribution used to fund the provision of rehearsal
materials and refreshments for rehearsals. We seek to have payments finalized on the first scheduled rehearsal
(Monday, 16th November, 2016).
Cast members will also be expected to attend a rehearsal camp from Friday 20 th January (evening) through to
Sunday 22nd January (afternoon). The camp will cost $95 per person which includes all meals and
accommodation for 2 days and 2 nights at Britannia Park in Yarra Junction. Cast members are also expected to
support and promote any fundraising activity associated with the production such as chocolate drives as well as
events such as trivia nights etc.
Cast members are required to actively promote the show (amongst friends, relatives, work colleagues etc.) and
sell tickets. The management committee will implement incentives to encourage the cast to sell tickets more to
follow on that during the rehearsal period.
Cast members are required to attend all rehearsals (unless advised by the Director that they are not required at
a nominated rehearsal) and behave in a professional manner. If a cast member is absent from more than three
rehearsals for which they were required to attend, or is for any reason considered unfit to perform (by the
management committee and/or directors), the management committee reserves the right to ask the cast
member to step out of the production. Rehearsals will primarily be Sunday afternoons and Wednesday &
Thursday evenings.
Health and safety regulations require cast to provide their own personal stage make-up. SLAMS will, whenever
possible, purchase stage make-up materials on behalf of cast at discount rates.
In general, cast members will be required to provide their own costumes and appropriate accessories, eg shoes.
Whenever possible, SLAMS will provide costumes from stock and may subsidize purchase or hire of costume
materials.
Cast members are required to assist behind the scenes in suitable areas of the production. Please complete
the attached sheet to nominate those areas in which you have particular skills, experience, or connections. All
cast members will occasionally be called upon to assist the set builders with set assembly (eg lifting of heavy
components of the set) during phases of the set construction.
