THE MOST CHAMPION

Millonarios and Nacional are some of the most winner clubs in Colombia, they both
currently have the largest number of titles won in the history of the Colombian league.
However, they did not win in the same way the titles, as well they have roots have
similarities but with a marked difference. Not only the history tell the difference but also
present of each team and supporting from fans.
Millonarios was the most successful team for a long period, since the beginning of the
league, it showed its greatness. Millonarios is the winningest team of long tournaments before
short tournaments and it was possible to win the tournament twice in the same year. The team
had won eleven times the league before the rise of drug money in football teams. Since the
beginning, Millonarios has been full of great stories, the team was known as El Ballet Azul
because of its very characteristic way of playing football well and treat the ball with style
(Biblioteca Nacional de Colombia: Ministerios de Cultura, 2015). Additionally, the team is
known as the Ambassadors too, in the golden age of Colombian football the team traveled
around the world showing the best of our football. Millionarios has followers formed by
lovers of the golden age, and also by those who have inherited the familiar taste for the team
because the team in the last 36 years has only won only three league titles, although many
regained their faith from the title obtained in 2012. Millonarios had been the greatest team in
Colombia until Nacional started to grow quickly, on the contrary its fans never gave up and
always was supporting as the greatest one.
Nacional was an unknown team before the era of Pablo Escobar, thereafter it became
the most successful team in Colombia. Nacional has won the most of its titles under new rules
of short tournaments even Nacional is the only team which has won twice in the same year

and it has done twice ([2007-I, 2007-II][2013-I,2013-II]) (El Tiempo, 2014). Nacional had
won only once a title before mid-seventies when the then owner began mysteriously to get big
profits from his businesses. Therefore, this team is full of stories that obscure their historical
triumphs, like its owner and promoter of the first big successes, was the first extradited in the
history of Colombia. One instance could be when Nacional won Libertadores international
cup, the road to final and how the referees benefited them left behind a cloud of doubts about
its true performance.(AS Colombia, 2015). Nacional fans are young people who have seen
his champion team on repeated occasions in recent years, it is the fashion team and currently
shows the best football in the league. despite Nacional has been marked by its links with
illegal business, it has become one of the best and biggest teams in Colombia and its football
level has what has positioned them there.
Millonarios and Nacional are rivals, and this confrontation always remains the
controversy of which one is the biggest, some people say history is more important others say
recently victories tell the difference. Nevertheless, only one thing in this issue is true, both
teams are great and this rivalry just made every match more interesting and no matter which
will win, we are always going to enjoy football of the team and they will never stop being the
best.
