Troubleshooting 110 KV Current Transformer

Representatives from M/S Tulsyan and M/S Lamco met on September 24, 2015 to troubleshoot issues with a 110 KV current transformer. They tested the insulation resistance values of the transformer cores and found that core No. 5 had a low value. After replacing the secondary terminal bushing for that core, the insulation resistance value was within normal range. They also observed an oil leak in a separate current transformer that was purchased two years ago and tightened the secondary terminals.

Minutes of meeting held between M/S Tulsyan and M/S Lamco


Industrial (P) Ltd at Tulsyan site on 24/09/15 regarding
troubleshooting in 110 KV current transformer (New)
M/S Lamco Engineer Mr [Link] attended M/S Tulsyan site
on 24/09/15 for current transformer trouble shooting. C.T SI.NOCD3822
Following activities were carried out:
1. Tested that CT IR value in the CT (300/1A, 3 core & 600/1A, 2
core)
2. In CT core No-5 IR value is Low.
3. Replaced the secondary terminal bushing for core No-5
4. After replaced the bushing the IR value is ok (), Resistance
value-2.66
5. Another one New CT (Purchased before 2 Years) oil leak
observed and secondary terminals tightened .CT oil leak is
observation CT SI NO-CD 3511, 200/1A-3 Core, 600/1A-2 Core
