his Emphatic Diaglott: " This text concerning
the heavenly witness is not vontained in any
Greek manuscript which was written earlier that
the 15th century. Itis not cited by any of the
ecclesiastical writers... It is therefore evidently
spurious."
3. Peake's
Commentary on the Bible: " The famous
interpolation after ' three witnesses' is not
printedeven in RSVn, and rightly. It cites the
heavenly testimony of the Father,
the logos, and the Holy Spirit, but is never
used in the early Trinitarian contraversies.
No respectable Greek manuscript contains it.
Appearing first in a late 4th century Latin text,
it entered the Vulgate and finally the New
Testament of Erasmus.

would now be rejected in any court of justice,

Commentary1.
Jesus refers to himself as the " son of man" 81
times in the Bible and as the "Son of God" ( in
the sense described above ) only twice. This
signifies a point: that he insists on being
perceived as a human being, no more, no less.
2. Robert Alley, a professor at the University of
Richmond, writes: "... The passages where
Jesustalks about the " Son of God" are later
additions... what the Church said about him.
Such a claim of deity for himself would not have
been consistent with his entire lifestyle as we
can reconstruct. For the first decades after
Jesus' death Christianity
continued as a sect within Judaism. The first
3 decades of the existence of the church
were within the synagogue. That would have
been beyond belief if { the followers} had
boldly proclaimed the deity of Jesus.

Marcello Craveri, in his The life of Jesus,
wrote Actually, the Old Testament does
contain the phrase ebed Yahweh which,
however, means " the servant of God, "the
slave of God," God's liege subject. The Greek
text... translates it equivocally as pais Theou,
in as much as pais...cam mean either " little
boy " or " slave ," subsequently, it was quite
simple to replace pias in the sense of "boy"
with hyos, which means "son."
