On this action-packed day, students are off schedule and have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities. In the morning, students will rotate around activities that they pre-selected during Advisory. These include burnball, circus, climbing,
dodgeball, flag football, 4-square, gymnastics, hide-under-the-mat, table tennis, orienteering and much more! Non-sporting activities are also on offer, such as art attack and
paper crafts, for those students who prefer
non-sporting activities. Students completed
a Sports Day Planner during Advisory so they
have a clear understanding of the activities
they signed up for and the respective locations (see image).
In the afternoon the entire MS will meet on
the HS field and participate in a variety of
house team challenges. Events include water jump rope, obstacle course, frisbee
throw, tug-o-war and several water-based
relay games. The House points are totalled
at the end of the activity session and we
wrap up the day with the announcement of
the winning team. Which house team will be
triumphant???

NICE TO KNOW:
Spotlight On...Service:
As a school we believe that participation in service learning opportunities touches students hearts as well as their minds. As we look to our mission the following statements resonate strongly with our core value of service:
Involve our community in sustaining and safeguarding our environment.
Live our lives positively, joyfully and ethically.
In the MS, we have a wide variety of service learning opportunities where students can
make meaningful connections with our established service learning partners. Students
can get involved via our CWW program, Saturday service trips or by forming an interest group around an issue.
Three of our MS students who have been strong and active advocates for service are Holly (G6), Eve (G7) and Bella (G6). Earlier in
the year they organized a plant sale to raise money for the World
Wildlife Funds animal adoption initiative. Yesterday, they dropped
by the MS Office to share some updates on their efforts. The girls
sent their donation to the WWF and asked to adopt a Binturong
(Bearcat). Below you can see their formal certificate of adoption as
well as a photo of the girls with a Bearcat stuffed toy and information about the action steps the WWF is engaged in to protect and
preserve this animal. Go Bearcats!
Wishing you all a great weekend!
Kind regards,
Rachel Harrington, Middle School Principal
Amanda Pekin, Assistant Middle School Principal

AMIS UPDATE
AUDITION INFORMATION:
If your child is interested in auditioning for the Association of Music in
International Schools (AMIS) Middle
School Honor Boys' and Girls' Choir
Festivals in Jakarta from 5-9 April,
please have them attend the following informational meeting and rehearsal in Ms. Grev's classroom
(1149): Thursday, December 1st, 3-4
pm. If s/he wishes to audition but is
unable to attend the meeting, please
have them stop by Ms. Grev's classroom to sign up for an audition slot
and to get the audition materials anytime after the meeting. Auditions will be
held on Tuesday, December 6th, 3-5 pm, and Thursday, December 8th, 3-5

Dear Parents,
The ISM Music Department is delighted to invite all grades 6, 7,
& 8 male and female singers to audition for the 2016-2017 Honor Choir Festivals in Jakarta, Indonesia! The festivals are hosted
by the Association of Music in International Schools (AMIS
pronounced like the French word for friends ah-mee). This
is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate with some of
the best young voices throughout Asia.

What is the cost?

The festival fee is 170GBP. The other two costs are the flight and
pocket money for some snack food. A flight to Jakarta is around
300-350USD for the times we want to travel, but it is too early
to give an exact price.

Some additional important details:
