Instructional Strategies and Learning Tasks
RIO Element: Provide the step-by-step description of what the teacher (you) will be doing and/or what the students will be doing (Instructional
Strategies) in bulleted-command format.
STUDENT READINESS
Engagement:
I would start by asking them to write on a post it note about something they know about the northwestern native americans and place it on the
whiteboard. That would then lead into learning and teaching about the northwestern native americans. We would go through the post it notes and
talk about each one.
Purpose Statement:
Today class we are going to learn about native americans. The first thing i want you to do is write something you know about native americans
and put it on the whiteboard. Then we will go through the statements you wrote and talk about them as a class. Now that we know about native
americans we are going to learn more about a certain native american tribe which is the Northwestern Native Americans. We are going to learn
about their culture, what they eat, how they made their homes, their clothes. You are going to learn and do research on the Northwestern Native
Americans, We will then present what we learned and you guys will put together a presentation and present it with an art project we are going to
do with this lesson.

After demonstrating how to do research they students will go off on their own to look up research with
guided questions to help them along

We will come back together and discuss what we found on the northwestern native americans
We will then work on our art project at the same time with the stations
